Tropical Theme Venue in Ohio

Hello Ladies,

I'm looking for a unique place to hold a "tropical themed" wedding in Central Ohio. I fell in love with the Franklin Park Conservatory, only to be crushed when I found out it was way out of my budget. Do you know of any venues in Central Ohio that I could look into? I keep getting lost in boring reception halls and hotel ballrooms... Is it too much to ask for something different?

Thanks!

What about North Bank Park?  It is not tropical, but it is all glass so it could get the aura of a greenhouse and you could use tropic flower centerpieces.  Plus they have pretty landscaping down there in the summertime.

Ya know I wasn't going for a tropical feel but I guess the fuschia and orange colors I went with and some of the floating orchid centerpieces gave it that feel....is there a place that you could give that feel to with bright linens, centerpieces and/or lighting?

@ jnkreager : Thanks for the tip! I'll check that place out... very open and near water... it could work!

@ Jelenny : Your colors and centerpieces sound beautiful! I think I'm going to do my best to incorporate tropical colors to help with the overall tropical feel. Centerpieces with bright fuschia, purple, and orange flowers and turquoise water are catching my eye...

I would love more suggestions ladies! I am just beginning my wedding plans. :)

Check out my bio (click on the part under my pictures - it ummm isn't fully updated but the important stuff is there) I have pictures of the stuff in there I am still waiting for people to get me pictures of wedding day.

My cousin's girlfriends mom (whew) got married in the same venue over a month before us and she said she couldn't believe how the colored linens made such a difference to the feel/look of the room.

    Good luck with the planning!

I don't believe they do weddings there anymore, but my first wedding reception (this is wedding 2.0 for me) was in the atrium of the Nationwide headquarters building. Sounds weird, I know, but they have a huge space filled with tons of tropical plants. Might be worth calling them (although I do believe they've stopped renting it out) to ask.

How about the zoo? It might be pricey, but some parts of the zoo are very tropical!
  • If you are still interested in a tropical theme you may also want to try bougainvillea petals. They add a definite tropical dimension to your table decor or runners. They come in a range of colours too!

You can find a vendor for these petals here.
