My dress has no train, so I decided to go with a cathedral length veil for the ceremony in its place. I love love love how they look together because there is embroidery and beading that creeps up from the bottom of the veil that matches the embroidery and beading on my dress perfectly! And then I have a chapel legth veil to wear over that one (but not over my face) with even more of the same embroidery all over it. I love it! It looks extra dramatic because my dress has no train.
So anyway, the cathedral veil came in, and I picked it up this morning. The bridal shop told me that if I hang it out of the bag, the wrinkles will all fall out naturally and no steaming will be required. The problem of course is that it's 9 feet long.
So I guess my question is, has anyone else picked up their veil yet? And any suggestions on how to store it so the wrinkles fall out but still keep it safe?
Re: Picked up one of my veils today... now what to do with it?!?!
My veil is still packed in it's bag. I figured I would just steam in before the wedding since it has to travel in a car to get there anyway. You could always keep it in your dress bag or a different long garment bag. It obviously would still be a little crinkled at the bottom since I don't know of any garment bags that are 9 ft. long, but it's better than leaving it out and unprotected where it could get snagged.
Any steaming will get rid of the wrinkles.
I wouldn't worry about doing it now, I'd wait until a month or 2 before the wedding to let it 'air out'.
[QUOTE]Can we see a picture of the veil? It sounds beautiful! I'm not having a veil, but maybe if you really want to hang it up- do you have a ceiling high enough? Or you could probably drape it over something like a door or something like that?

Hanging it from the ceiling is actually a really good idea, but I live in an apartment and there's nothing on the ceiling from which to hang anything.
However, your idea of draping it over something gave me a good idea!! I can drape it over a pants hanger, and then it will only hang 4.5 ft, so I can either store it in my empty travel garment bag or with my dress!! So thanks for the idea!
I will have to take a picture of it during my next study break! haha
