hi! i'd love our menu to reflect our cultures but also make sure that people outside our families want to eat the food! what do you think of this?
appetizers: mini potato pancakes with applesauce.....what else would be good?
family style entrees: chicken schnitzel; vegetarian pierogi; what else would be good?
family style sides: spaetzle; grilled vegetables; braised apples; mashed potatoes
dessert: cupcakes self-serve as part of our centerpieces; family style pastry tray; maybe a sweet and salty bar with take-home bags?
also we're doing a late night chicago style hot dog cart.

would you want to eat this food or not????????
Re: polish/german family style menu - suggestions?! help! :)

Oh how I love mini potato pancakes with applesauce! And Chicago-style hot dogs? This sounds awesome!
I'd do maybe something involving dill; Polish food has a lot of it, like dill pickles, cucumbers with sour cream and dill, dill potatoes, etc. Instead of a sweet and salty bar (although that sounds fantastic!), if you really want the theme you could give German chocolate bars. Fruit pierogi are good (blueberry, cherry). Soft pretzels are a fun German thing, and you can do all sorts of toppings on those (plain, salt, sugar, cinnamon, butter, chocolate, nuts, mustard, etc.).

Ok, I LOVE your food. My FI would kill to have that food at our wedding but we could not find a reliable place to provide it. We had one but they are being sold so no luck.
I would be in heaven with that meal!!
Pierogies (vegetable or standard potato / potato and cheese)
Golubki might be asking too much
Don't forget spicy brown mustard as a condiment selection

I'm German and my family is all German, but my H's is not :-( So we opted for traditional 4th of July American BBQ food. But DEFINITELY add some sauerkraut as a side :-) People can put it with EVERYTHING!!
