Ushers

Hey ladies,

For those of you having ushers in your wedding party, are you having them wear the same attire as the best man and groomsmen?  I never put any thought into it before and I am kinda conflicted right now.  I know that they will be in some of the wedding party pictures, so would it look weird that they are in suits whereas the rest of the guys are in tuxes?  Would it help if we have them wear black suits so that it looks similar to the groomsmen, but just with their own ties?  I like the idea of all the guys wearing the same attire, but I hate to have the ushers fork out the cash for a tux.  TIA for your advice.

We're having our ushers in the same tuxes as the groomsmen, and having them in all our pictures.
FI was an usher in a friend's wedding and just wore a suit - but they didn't ask him to be in any pictures.
Basically, I think you can do it either way - I don't think ushers in black suits and GMs in black tuxes (for example) would look weird at all.

We're having a non-traditional wedding party so we aren't using the terms best man, groomsman, or usher, but we will have one woman and one man who will be doing the duties of ushers. We are not having them rent tuxes, but we did ask them to wear something black. They will be included in some of the photos.

I think you can handle this any way you want. But if you do choose to have them rent tuxes, I would recommend trying to include them in everything the groomsmen are doing (rehearsal & dinner, wedding party photos, etc.).

I haven't decided if my ushers will wear what groomsmen are wearing or fathers. I will have to see what the tux rental place recommends.  They can give you the traditional information, but really, it is up to you.  My fiance and I are going in this weekend to pick everything and get him fitted! Smile I am excited!

We are having the ushers wear the same tux and vest color as the groomsmen, as my FI really does not want to make any visible differentiation between them (the ushers will even be standing up at the aisle with him).

When we went to the tux rental place, she suggested that for a traditional wedding party, the ushers wear black vests (matching the dads) or another accent color different from the groomsmen. We obviously chose not to go this route, but this was the "traditional" advice we were given. If you don't want the ushers to have to rent a tux, I think black suits would be just fine. HTH
