Engagement Photo Ideas

I want to do something unique for my engagement pictures, does anyone have any fresh ideas or has anyone seen anything cool lately?

We took ours in November at my parent's farm.  Our wedding has a fall theme, which was the reason for taking them outside in the fall, and it is going to be at my parent's farm, so that is why we took them there.  Maybe you could do the same... use your theme (if you have one), and take them in the location that you are getting married at.  I don't know if that's the kind of idea you want or not, but it was a thought.

We took ours in the fall as well - did shots on the ISU campus (we both went to ISU), rolling in the leaves, kissing under the campanile, etc.  I have another friend getting married next month, she and her fiance had their first date at a carnival, so they timed their photo shoot around another carnival - amazing lighting effects, cute shots of playing games, carousel, etc.  I'd choose someplace meaningful to the two of you, whether it's a first date location or a favorite city or even your home, and have fun!!

great suggestions... I really need to think of somewhere that has some sentimental value... It's hard because we were friends for so long before we started dating that we didn't really have an official first date or anything like that... I will just have to be creative!

Our photographer is a family friend on my fiance's side and hasn't really shot much in Des Moines before. So we're waiting until just a few months before the wedding and taking him down to Des Moines to scout out locations for the wedding day and those will be our engagement photos. I'm getting a little impatient and wishing we had nice photos sooner for our website, but he's giving us such a good deal that I can't really complain.

We did ours at the sculpture garden downtown. It worked out great! This time of year Water Works park is pretty, so is Ewing Park with all of the lilacs...that would be next month though. I also thought of the merry-go-round at Union Park, but we were doing ours Thanksgiving weekend, and it's closed.

Hey Rochelle, Ross and I decided to have ours on the Iowa campus, which was meaningful for us.  A friend took those, but now that we're booking a photographer (since my friend is the maid of honor and can't pull double duty), we have to have them take more (which is rediculous), but Ross loves trains and I love horses, so we are trying to combine both of those.  Idk if I can have my horse in them, but we're going to try.  I HATE the typical engagement photos, so I'm a little happy that our photographer is great at editing the images.  I'm excited, but like you, don't really have an idea.
