Short wedding dresses?

Recently I am toying and kind of like the idea of wearing a short wedding dress! Not tea length, I'm short (5'2'') and those cut me off in a weird spot at my legs, but like cocktail length. The wedding will be in a barn venue and the ceremony is outdoors and will be in October and we want pictures taken in the woods also!

Just curious, what are your thoughts on short dresses?

I think if it fits the casual feel of everything else at the wedding, that could be great! It's totally what you're comfortable with.

I am also 5'2 & am wearing a short dress to my second marriage wedding in August 2012.

I found a bridesmaids dress (Sophia Tolli) that I love & had it made in White Taffeta. *I used http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com (out of minneapolis) & received my dress within 4 weeks.

The dress is 1000% more beautiful than in the picture ! I bought a huge brooch to pin on the hip ruffle & it looks like I paid hundreds for this dress !($160.00 total) *My mom cried when she saw it put together. I took it to a local seamstress for alterations ($40.00)

I like this because it has a 'retro cocktail dress' look Lean & sophisticated. I had it hemmed to just right at my knees, took it in on the sides/hips & it is perfect ! Tiny sandals, an itsy bitsy matching hair brooch & im good to go ! *dress has a built in corset & size 12 fit my 36 DD perfectly but swimming around the hips. The dress had a small defect at the hem, but it was cut off in the shortening anyway ! Im VERY satisfied with my short wedding dress and I cant WAIT till my wedding to wear it !

I think it comes down to your personal style and taste. If you love short wedding dresses then that is what you should wear. The wedding dress should reflect who you are and you should, in no way, feel pressured into the "traditional" route because that is the "correct" way.

I personally think short wedding dresses are very pretty and can be extremely elegant. I say go for it!

Personally, I like them and considered one for my wedding. I'm also short, 5'3". I really liked two from Alfred Angelo. Here is the one I nearly bought (still really like it):

It's 1774NT. At 5'3", this looked great on my frame. The only reason I didn't buy it is because my FI is the same height as me and I'd have to wear flats. I thought it was a great compromise between long and short. Here's another short one that I also like:

I like that this isn't over the top and has a great shape and style to it. If you like the idea of short, go for it. Good luck!

Personally, short wedding dress absolutely is a nice choice for big day, because it 's stylish!! If you want to have a mod wedding, just wear it!!!
