NWR: What is Your Dream Job?

I just finished my midterms and now have time to think about pointless fluff again! Woohoo!!

FI was complaining to me about how boring his job is and how he just wishes he could do his (unrealistic) dream job.

It got me thinking...

1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?

2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?

My answers:
1. I'm working Part Time at Hallmark just for fun. It's certainly not my dream job. I will be a certified teacher by next December. I do love teaching but it's not my dream.

2. Personally, I'd love to be a florist. I LOVE flowers and have gotten very good at arranging them and identifying them. Not sure if it's really a plausible career though. Maybe something for the side. :)

Your turn!

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?
I work as an administrative assistant and that is not my dream job

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?
I would love to work part-time with full-time pay and benefits! With the economy these days I don't know if such a job exists!

    1.  No, I'm not doing my dream job right now.  I work from home, but I enjoyed it so much better when I was on-campus.  However, I can't commute 4 hours each way for work!

    2.  My really unrealistic dream job is a mounted police officer.  My mostly unrealistic dream job is to be one of those guides who dresses in historical clothing.

My realistic dream job is to teach chemistry and develop curricula to prepare high school students better for math and science in college.  I'm working on my EdD now, so hopefully that will work out!

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?
Right now I'm working part time at a copy center, not my dream job! But I'm also doing a full time internship in kindergarten, which I love. I'll have my masters in Early Childhood and Special Education in April!

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?
My dream JOB would be teaching 1st grade, which I think is decently plausible. I would much rather be a stay at home mom, but the chances of that actually happening are probably slim to none.

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now? DEFINITELY not! I'm currently working in insurance, and I don't suggest this job to anybody. It's very high stress and there are so many aspects of the different lines of coverage that it's impossible to know the answer to everything. Lots of room for error, not a lot of appreciation for hard work in a fast paced environment, etc..

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream? My dream job would be to be an event planner. I love entertaining and throwing parties, and I absolutely loved planning our wedding. If I could put color swatches together and fancy menus all day that would be so much fun! But I would hate the nights and weekends, as I love having 40 hour weekday work week now.

I also would love to pursue a job in politics, as I was a Political Science major in college, but I feel like our government is so corrupt, and most politicians don't do what they say and don't focus on the real matters. So, I wouldn't want to lose myself in my job.

    1. I've got four different jobs right now: lifeguard/swim instructor at a private club, lifeguard at a city pool, research assistant at my university, and swim coach. I love coaching and definitely plan to continue coaching...forever?

    2. I want to coach part-time all my life, and be a mother, and possibly be a professor--something to decide once I'm further into my masters degree.

I'm not working at all right now...so no? Haha.

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?
Working in a library is my dream job. :) I'd love to be the head of a library or library district. I think that's pretty plausible.

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?
I don't have a paying job right now, but I am helping out a family in our church 3 days a week.  They're training me in ABA therapy for their 6-year-old daughter with Autism, and I'm tutoring their 11-year-old son.  If I can't get in a classroom, helping out a wonderful homeschool family is just as great.

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?
Although I would love to have a classroom, my dream "job" is to be a mother and teach our children at home.  We're praying about purposefully trying to start a family next summer, unless God has other plans sooner or later.

    No, I'm not.

I used to dream of being a stay at home mom but that is not going to happen.  I think what I would really like to do is be a teacher's assistant at an elementary school.

If I had to find a better job at my current work place, I would work on investigations to find better ways to do things (design better processes, find better technology solutions) and then hand it off to someone who would fix it.

    1. I'm a youth pastor and it IS my dream job. Someday I might venture into the public speaking realm, but still to youth.

    2. I guess my dream job would be my job with a better pay check... but that's for sure unrealistic ;) Dang ministry.

I'm not "working" in my dream job right now but I am interning at my dream job. I'm going to school to get my Master's in School Counseling and I'm interning at an elementary school as a counselor, which is my dream job. So hopefully the interning will turn into a real paying job afterwards :)

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?  Well yes and no.  No because I can't wait to be a stay at home mom. BUT I love what I do right now.  I am a veterinarian, and I find it very rewarding and I am glad I chose it as my career choice.

    1. Would you say that you are working at your dream job now?
I'm about to start assistant teaching at a special ed facility and no, not my dream job.

    2. If not, what is your dream job? Is it something that is plausible or really just more of a dream?
My dream job is to work in a non-profit animal rescue. It's very plausible since I have already done it but had to give it up when we moved back home to start our life together near our families. I want to work towards ending animal abuse and homelessness and someday I'm sure I'll be able to do that in my own hometown.
