so my mom just told me that she and my dad are going to throw an engagement party for me and my FI. We got engaged April 2011 and our wedding is May, 2013. We are thinking June, 2012 for the party. Is it too late since we'll already be engaged for over a year?

I don't think it really matters when the engagement party is. You probably wouldn't want it too close to the wedding, but this is fine!

I too don't think it really matters when the engagement party is. It's the thought that counts :-)
