Peaches!

No, really! I just have to gush over these! I was so stinking excited when my dad brought these over to my apt yesterday afternoon. I planted a peach tree in our backyard in like, 2007 maybe?? The last two or so years they have been itty bitty hard things, and before that nothing, but this year they are real peaches!! And they are delicious!! Yay yay : D

And my tomato plants on my back porch are FINALLY starting to produce teeny tiny green things that will hopefully become tomatoes at some point. And, I harvested a ton of basil yesterday and it smells yummy! I love love love growing things, lol.

Does anyone else have a garden? What's growing in it?

Re: Peaches!

  • We have an herb garden on our balcony. We grow basil, rosemary, spicy oregano, thyme and jalepenos. We are drying the herbs we grow to use to make an herb blend as our favors to guests at the wedding.

I really wish we could grow some tomatoes but the heat just wont allow it.

  • We have a bell pepper plant on our patio, but only got 2 peppers off of it this year. It was a bummer. We're looking forward to having a house with a yard so we can have an actual garden.

That is such a great idea!! I have basil, rosemary, cilantro and parsely growing right now. Are you growing it in huge amts or have you just been doing it for a while?

We are growing zucchini at my parents house to make zucchini bread as favors. We are also doing pumpkin bread, but have never had much luck with frowing those so we weren't chancing it. We actually bought canned pumpkin forever ago on sale! lol

I was beginning to wory about my tomatoes because of the heat. I have been watering the dilligently, but the heat has been unbearable over this last month!
  • That's awesome! I can't wait to have a garden - I'm stuck in an apartment right now with no area to grow one.
  • I have an apple tree that has three apples on it this year, it's very young, and we only got one last year so I'm pretty excited. On the bummer side, my strawberry plants are all used up, so i need to till them under and plant new ones :(
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

</div><div>We are growing as much as possible at once. Sadly we may have to purchase some basil from a local grower to supplement if I can't find a replacement plant for the one that just died. We only have about 35 adult guests so we will be able to get by with what we have growing now and already dried as long as we can get another basil plant or supplement.</div><div>
</div><div>I love the idea of making homemade bread! Using garden fresh vegetables and making your favors yourself is way awesome!

  • My garden is hardly producing - and I'm in the Cincy area too :(
I planted zuchinni (all huge plants and flowering but no vegies), tomatoes - still green, and corn that has tasseled about boob high....  Oh and our pepper plants that are the same height as when we bought them - I've given up hope on them.

I would love a peach tree!!  I hope they are delicious!
