FLORISTS IN NYC

If anyone doesn't mind my asking...how much are you paying for a florist in NYC? I am getting married at Water's Edge in NYC...my wedding is on the larger side, approx 220 guests so I will have about 20-21 tables. However I am being quoted close to $10,000! I am going to have to keep it simpler I guess. My budget was $5,000 and I thought that was reasonable?? Am I crazy?

Can you use a florist from Long Island?  I used Stefan's, we toldl them our budget was $5K and they said no problem.  Our wedding was about the same size as yours.

i think that is high.  i'm using starbright florist, and for half as many tables, and a ton of bouquets, i'm paying just over $2k, so i would think you could do it for $5k.  http://www.starflor.com/

You should call Simple n Elegant, and ask for Vanessa, she's the owner and floral designer, her work is spectacular and she'll work with your budget if you show her what you want to spend and what you want.  She's in Connecticut about 30min out of the city but maybe you can arrange to meet in the city :)  They were featured in Grace Ormonde's Style Wedding Magazine.  Google her contact ;) good luck!

Burton's on Long Island - I'm having about 16 tables and for everything (bouquets, centerpieces, corsages etc) I'm paying less than 2k.

My flowers are costing between $600-700 for a wedding of 50-70 people.  I have a really small bridal party though.

    Flowers by Richard!

He is so amazing and will really work with any budget. He did my 100 person wedding for $2,000 (really tall centerpieces)

I cannot say enough amazing things about him.

Your best bet is to try Designs By Rose.  She is in Queens and goes to all city locations.  She will work in your budget and give you so much more.

I would say $5K is low if you're looking for manhattan florists, esp if they're in midtown or on the UES...

Be careful with the Long Island vendors though--often they mark up their prices when they hear the wedding is in manhattan...so put of telling them as long as possible.  Simply tell them what you're looking for and how much you have to spend and ask them what they envision they can do for that price before you mention the wedding is in the city...

We are using FloraNY, and our quote for about 200 people (so figure 20 tables) is happily under 5K.  We are also cutting costs by using candles with petals on several tables.  I am working with Margaret there.  She is very nice.

Emily Thompson. I'm using her for my wedding and she was so flexible and attentive. I blogged about my experience at www.foreverisntfree.blogspot.com and will be posting pics after my wedding in 2 weeks if you want to check them out.

    Goldlie11,

Which florist areyou using?  I have a similarly sized wedding and a small bridal party as well, and the price you are paying is about the amount I was hoping to spend on flowers!
  • Do not use James ANthony!!

Absolutely terrible vendor! He is completely overpriced and is unwilling to negotiate at all.  Not interested in your business unless you are willing to spend over $8K.  Don't waste your time!! Plus his office is in the middle of a place that you do not want to go to after 5 pm.
