Photographer help!!

I'm not sure what to do about a photographer. We're trying to keep the wedding to a smaller budget and would like to have a photographer in the 2,000-2,500 range.

My issue is the bigger chain ones don't really do the type of photography I like (artistic and photojournalistic) and I've heard people having issues with getting someone not so experienced, etc. Then I look at smaller professionals who have insanely awesome work but the pricing puts me well of 3,000. HELP!!!
