  How long are you planning on staying in Maine? The state is a lot bigger than many people realize. Boston to Acadia National Park is a good 6-7 hour drive. Baxter State Park is several hours away from there, and Moosehead is several hours away from Baxter. 

  
  

  If you reallly want to enjoy the outdoors and relax, I would recommend choosing one place. Or, if you want to hop around, start in Camden and make your way up Route 1, there are tons of bed and breakfasts. I would make sure to give yourselves at least three days in Acadia. It's absolutely gorgeous, and Bar Harbor is full of bed and breakfasts for you to stay.

  I would tend to agree with ivyrose. Travelling along Route 1 will give you the biggest bang for your buck I think. Allowing you plenty of small town charm as well as outdoor activities. Baxter State Park is wonderful but it's on the opposite side of the state. Def. spend some time in the Bar Harbor area! It's amazingly beautiful. A 7 day pass to the park will cost you $20 but you can park and do any of the trails with that pass. I just did the Bubbles (mountains) with my fiance yesterday for his birthday and they were beautiful. Camden is a beautiful area as well. I grew up in the Wiscasset, Damriscotta area which is also along route 1. Even googling things to do in ME will give you ideas, or you could look up Maine books on Amazon and some of them have the "look inside" feature where you can read parts of the book for free!   I'm actually from the Moosehead lake region, it's where I'm planning on having my wedding next summer. There's plenty of nice places to stay while up there, some good bed and breakfast's. Sometimes you can find a good deal with weekly camp rentals, that's what we do with our place. My cousin owns a moose safari business that does only private tours. (So you're not with a large group of people) and you are guaranteed a moose and other wildlife sighting! If you want any more info and and some phone numbers message me and I'll let you know!

  I agree with pp's. All those locations are gorgeous but you will be spending lots of time in the car. I'd do rt one (I grew up along there as well In Kennbunk) and Barharbor/Acadia for a good taste of Maine OR Acadia and Baxter, giving each a few days. Baxter is a lonnng drive from Mass, as is Acadia. I think rt. one makes more sense because you would see much more of Maine then if you drove through the state on 95.

  Thanks everybody. I've been to Maine so there are some places that I'll be okay with not visiting. We mainly want to be in the Moosehead Lake area. We were thinking about staying there for 3 nights and then drive up to Baxter State Park for a night. After that we may visit Acadia National Park and then make a short stop in Rockland to check out the lobster fest. It's probably a lot of driving but we enjoy visiting different places!
  
  Any recommendations of where to stay in the areas I listed? Thinking of a B&B in Moosehead Lake (The Evergreen Lodge) and going on Moose Safari- mostly relaxing. Is it better to stay in Millinocket when we visit Baxter State park?
