More Checks :)!!! Need advice: Fiftyflowers vs. Florist

Hey ladies,

I'm so happy that I have a few more checks done. Last week we booked CSC Special Events and Creative Services for our reception, we just got our engagement cd yesterday (so know we can start working on sending out Save-The-Dates by the new year) and I pick up my dress on Saturday Smile!

But I need some advice. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should order flowers for myself and the bridesmaids from Fiftyflowers.com - I love this flower & want to use it for the bouquets-

Or should I invest in a florist. I don't want to spend a lot of money  on flowers but I also don't want anything to go wrong with the bouquets. I need some advice. What do you ladies think?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Make your own flowers.  Real ones might be prettier, but lets be honest they will die within a few weeks and thats money in the toilet.  You might as well drive down the road and toss $100's out the window to get the effect.  By making your own flowers you can become so much more creative, and would probably save a lot of money.  I think thats what we will end up doing :)
BTW the bouquet flowers were very pretty.

I am exactly the opposite... hire a florist.  you will have so much going on that day the last thing you will do is want to be making sure your flowers are fine. I used Katie Elfers.. she is an A+ all around. She can work with you on pricing to get the look and feel you want and make sure that you stay within budget.  Real flowers are there for a reason... use them.

What a shocker- I agree with Kel.  (Seems to happen quite a bit ;)

When my friend got married in September, her mom had agreed to do the bouquets.  Her mom showed up in an Awful mood- and threw the unfinished flowers down 2 hours before the wedding.  Literally, she had cut hydrangeas and that was it.  Another friend and I ended up doing them quickly.  Luckily, it was just hydrangea(big and bushy and no fillers needed), but anything more and we would have been screwed.

It would not be worth the stress on your wedding day.  Unless you know soneone who you absolutely trust, get it done.  It's worth it.   Mine were $30 per bouquet.  PIB

I agree with hiring a florist. There are SO many other details to the wedding I need to work on and it seemed totally worth it to me to put the flowers in the hands of someone who knows about them a heck of alot more than I do. And to be honest, flowers were not as expensive as I thought they would be.

At least meet with a few florists before you decide. Once you have an idea of what they can provide to you vs. what you are willing to pay, then you can make a better decision.

Thank you for the advice. That's exactly what I don't want...to be stressed out about doing the flowers.

Mrs.Dilligaf-what florist did you use? I'm looking for something affordable.
