Dress and Slip?

So I am still on the fence whether or not I want to wear a slip under my dress.  My dress is an a line with tons of tulle under it already.  Are any of you not wearing slips or would it look silly if I didn't wear a slip?

Re: Dress and Slip?

  • I said no because my seamstress added extra tulle under the dress to achieve the fullness I wanted.  She said a slip might just add bulk at the waist - something I definitely don't want!
  • My dress has a layer built in under it, so I'm not wearing a slip or anything under it.

  • I wasn't going to, but when I had my fitting last week, some of the crinoline must have been poking through the fabric and it was scratching my leg up. If I can't find that one spot that's bothering me and cut it or something, I may end up having to find a slip.

  • I am wearing a slip only because without one,  it won't give the skirt a full look

  • I'm wearing an A-line dress... I bought one and brought it to my seamstress and she said I didn't need it.  Wasted $60 but ended up returning it to DB and used the credit toward my RD dress.

In short, I highly recommend asking your seamstress first!!!

  • Umm.. definitely not. I guess for me, I personally only where a slip with a dress when it could potentionally be see through. If I am spending that much on a wedding dress, it shouldn't need a slip.

  • I say no. I think personally it woul get too hot to have all of those layers on. Plus it will be easier to move around freely without it as well. I had a slip to wear but decided my dress looked better and felt better without it.

  • Nope.  When I tried it on the first time I had on a crinoline but when I went back and bought it I didn't.  It looks fine without it and won't be as hot.

  • i am wearing a slip under my dress just for the fact it helps fill out my dress a bit more. and a lot of the tulle under the dress can get itchy sometimes. i just didnt want to deal with it

  • Well I had my fitting and I originally didn't wear a slip but I tried the dress on with a slip  and it looks so much better.  So a slip it is!
