Marriage License Question

Hello my fiance and I are researching the marriage license and looking to get that crossed off our to do list here soon. I am just wondering, do you have to apply in the county that you live in? We are thinking of going to Westmoreland County because it isn't too far and its cheaper than Allegheny County but I wanted to make sure this was possible. Also what all do we need to have with us to apply for the license. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

nope, any county is ok to get your license.  Can't tell you what exactly you need, hopefully someone who's married chimes in!

I have checked Butler and Allegheney counties.  If I remember correctly, the Butler website said you need your SS card.  I actually called Allegheney.  The woman I spoke with was very nice.  All we need is cash (only), the application and our photo ID.

Yeah, you don't need your ss card, you just need to know you ssn.  As Janice said you will need the cash and photo ID.  Also you both need to be there.
