Cathedral worries...

do any Cathedral brides have written confirmation of your date?  All my communication has been with Kevin over the phone, and while he is so nice and informatiive there always seems to be a bit of a struggle to locate my date.  Each time I speak with him he'll ask if I mean 2013...I'll repeat, "no, November 16th 2012 at 3 pm" and he'll say, "okay, here we are  Smith/Jones right?" or some pair of names....I'll have a heart attack and tell him again and then he'll say, "oh, right here it is."  This worries me!  We have everything booked for the wedding...am I going to get down there and find out another bride has the same wedding time as me???  Do you have a written contract?  Thanks!

Re: Cathedral worries...

  • No, I don't have a written contract, but I do know what you mean!  I made sure to send my first deposit check with our names & date on the notation and with a cover letter that clearly stated our names and the date.  I hope this is sufficient to keep it straight.  I have only heard good things about the way the Cathedral turns out for the rehearsal and the wedding, despite the difficulties communicating the rest of the time.  HTH.  It's not really much of an assurance, but at least you are not alone! :)

  • I have the same fears. I've called before and made up a question to ask just so I could get confirmation of the date. I don't know why, but I've had a serious fear about it the entire time that I've been planning!

  • Same here. I have also had this same heart attack when they accidentally called our names for a different date, and just like your story he then located the right date. I also  put my date and name on our deposit check and I am also hoping that this is enough. I agree with NO2012, at least you are not alone.
  • lol....not sure if it's good to hear or bad that others are having same issues!!  I suppose it's good that I've never seen any raging posts about someone actually having a problem on the wedding day!  I think I will call to make up questions a couple more times to be sure :) I put our names and dates on the checks too.  Really though, for something as important as the church you are getting married in there should be some paperwork!  I am hoping that the confusion arrises from the fact that there are as many as four weddings a day during busy seasons; they have weddings at 1, 3, 5, and  7 pm six days a week!  I am thinking that when he has located other people's names it is probably that he is automatically looking at the 7 pm slot, as it is the most popular.  We are having a Friday 3 pm ceremony, so I am also hopeful that the possibility of overbooking would be slim.  I think too that they 'pencil in' alot of people when they call with interest about a date, but nothing is set until all the requirements are met, so for any given date there may be a couple of names.  Good luck ladies!!
