venue question

Hi everyone! Just got engaged a few weeks ago and have been looking at venues with little luck so far. We went and checked out Stonebridge Country Club in Mckinney and I loved it, but was just curious if anyone here had heard much about it or used them? The sheer amount of choices is overwhelming, or is it just me? lol.

Re: venue question

  • My fiance and I were completely overwhelmed by the choices...we are going with Belltower Chapel and Garden in Fort Worth. We loved the picture perfect chapel and the fact that ALL of the money goes back into ACH (a child welfare program). Think about what kind of overall look you want, what the benefits of it are, and if it speaks about you two as a couple! Good luck!
  • Congratulations!  We actually have a website with a list of some of the vendors (including venues) that lots of past and present knotties have used.  It's in the sticky at the top of the page about looking for a vendor.  =)

  • Thanks guys! I appreciate any help I can get!!
  • One of my co-workers is using Stonebridge and I think they've been great so far. (Although, the wedding isn't until September). If you know a member then you can use their member number and get a discount though!

  • What type of wedding venue are you looking for? Modern, ballroom, large, small, etc.
  • It gets very good reviews on Wedding Wire.

Although I couldn't find any Knottie reviews on Stonebridge, we've had several Knotties get married at different country clubs, all with good reviews.  Country club weddings definitely have some advantages in that you get a beautiful  setting with many things done for you that you don't have to worry about, with country clubs often having lower food and beverage minimums than hotels.
  • Wow! Thank you all so much! We're looking for something that wont make our 100 guest wedding seem to small. So maybe not a giant ballroom, but still something a little different. Stonebridge was appealing because the building doesnt look like a run of the mill cc. But im open to any other cool recs! Its always nice to hear about other people's experiences!
  • I had 109 at my hotel ballroom wedding and it didn't seem small at all--in fact it was the absolute perfect size.  I got married at the Melrose which is a smaller boutique hotel.

For me, I knew I wanted an outdoor ceremony and inside reception so those were the main characteristics I used when narrowing venues down, along with guest size.  So think about the main things you want and then go from there.
  • Thanks again for the tip, I'll have to check  that out! I'm obviously like a fish out of water right now, lol.
  • When are you getting married? :)

I attended a wedding that had the ceremony at the Bella Donna Chapel and then reception at the Stonebridge. It was in December so they had the fireplaces going which made everything incredibly romantic.
I think the Stonebridge is a great choice, plus you get to get ready in the little cottages on site. Are you looking just for McKinney, or other areas as well? Also- as someone else already said, the look you are going for (modern, traditional, etc.) would help in us giving some suggestions.
    Congrats and gl!
