Vendor Reviews, Part 1

We were married on May 22nd.

VENUE: AquaTurf Club (A-) - Very responsive with emails or phone calls and they are known for their amazing food (they will send guests home with seconds) and service. So many people complimented us on the food and saying how beautiful they thought everything was. Why they didn't get an full A is due to a couple of small glitches...that did not affect our wedding day but were more little administrative hiccups (not telling us the total that we would need a BANK check for when I called in my tentative counts 2 weeks before, which they should have it turns out- b/c we came to our last appmt 2 days before the wedding with just our check book and thus had to drive back the next day with the bank check...it was crunch time, we had a million in-laws in town and it was not another errand we wanetd to add on to the list...and the in-house florist misplacing my consultation notes and calling me the week before the wedding saying we never discussed flowers and insisting I was wrong, basically when I was like, "I was in there 2 months ago! We talked face to face!" She found her notes 5 minutes later and called me back to apologize...after I'd gone over the flowers all over again). Anyway, minor things in the grand scheme of it all and as a whole we were very pleased with the experience. Our Maitre'd for the day - Don - was very helpful as the bridal party was waiting in our suite - bringing us drinks and snacks and they do the same for you while you're doing photos at cocktail hour. Staff was patient and helpful.

FLOWERS - (B+) Just For You by Jane. She absolutely captured my vision for my bouquet and the BMs flowers. The only reason she doesn't get an A is b/c she forgot the guy's bouts the morning of the wedding and had to drive all the way back to Middlefield and then back to the chapel at the Aqua Turf...we were running about 15 minutes behind schedule anyway so it wasn't a huge deal in the long run. The arrangements were stunning for the chapel!

CAKE - (A+) Diane's Sweet Treats, based in Newington. Diane is very responsive and professional and her cakes taste good as well as look beautiful. I appreciate her being so organized and thorough in her business. The cake was just what we'd asked for!  I was so happy to see it.

DJ (A) - David Rossi from PowerStation Events. Company is very easy to deal with and responsive. David did a great job DJing our wedding and listened to our Do Not Play and Request lists and I was very happy with the results. Very professional and no cheese. ;-)

More to come soon - I don't have a ton of time right this second but wanted to get these out there to start!

Thanks for these! I am using the AT and Jane so it was good to read this - although it makes me a little nervous!

Don't be nervous!  AT was really good, overall.  It was annoying to have to go back the next day with the bank check but I will give their florist lady credit for calling me back right away to apologize...although I didn't appreciate her basically telling me I was wrong about saying I had gone in there for a consultation with her like 2 months earlier. She was the one who lost her notes - not my mistake. Don't blame it on me saying I must be confused or something...But....everyone makes mistakes and at least she called me back to apologize.

Jane's work is beautiful - I'm sure she'll do a nice job for your wedding!

    Congratulations on your wedding!!

I'm also having my wedding at the AquaTurf.  Did you use Jane for your BM bouquets and the in-house florist for your centerpieces?  I want more than just 1 rose as a centerpiece (which is what AT includes in the price).  I'm wondering whether I should go in-house for an "upgrade" or just use an outside florist.  Any suggestions?

This - she did my boquet and the BMs and our chapel arrangements. We did the Royal package at AT, though, and we had nice, full centerpeices at each table. It was more than just one little rose! Not sure how it goes depending on package but Jane is very budget friendly and she will work with you within your range...
