Half Marathon Week 8

My 7 mile run was relatively unsuccessful, but I'm not too worried about falling behind. This week is when it starts to pick up quite a bit.

M - Strength and stretch (I did biceps and back, with tricep dips and abs)

T - 4.5 mile run

W - 3 mile run

Th - 4.5 plus strength (I will do chest and shoulders)

F - rest

S - 50 minutes cross (most like the bike or elliptical or a combo of both)

S - 8 mile run. <-- this will be my LONGEST DISTANCE EVER. I'm nervous/excited for it. :)

How is everyone else's training going? Fill me in!

Re: Half Marathon Week 8

  • Hey y'all!  I am officially starting my spring distance tranining today, and I would like to post on the thread that y'all aready have going if that's ok.  I'm planning to do a 10 miler on April 3 and a half marathon on May 1.  This will be my first 10 miler and my second half marathon.  My goal for the half is to beat my previous time of 2:06:09.  I'm developing my own training schedule this time (but I'm basing it off Hal Higdon's 10 miler plan, at least at first).  Here is my schedule for this week:

    M: 35 minute tempo run
    T:  60 minute spinning class
    W: rest
Th: track workout, 6 x 400 at mile pace
F: cross train at the gym
    Sat: 8 miles
Sun: 3 miles or cross train at the gym
  • annewright - Welcome - are you running on a particular training program?  Not sure about the no weight training thing, as I usually do that as well as run every week - I would guess you could find info on runners world or something.

Well - I just had my final taper run before my half this weekend!  Was nice to only have to do 2 miles this morning :)  Now I get to rest up for two days!
