30 Day Shred

So mine arrived yesterday, which I was excited about.

I figured I would check it out today just to see what I was in for with you ladies!  OH MY GOD.  I do not know how those girls in the DVD keep a smile on their face...I was practically in tears!  Haha.

For those who have done it before, are the workouts meant to be done everyday?  Or every other day?  Some different variation?!

We are definitely going to see some amazing results ladies!

Re: 30 Day Shred

  • I have heard great results with that program! I hear it is intense!

  • Your supposed to do it everyday and you do each workout for ten days.

When I did it last year, I got so bored by Day 7, that I moved up to WO2 on Day 8. I HIGHLY suggest staying with WO1 for the full 10 days because WO2 was a HUGE jump in intensity. (The same for WO2 to WO3)

I had really great results. I never actually weighed myself during the process (because I was at school and didn't have a scale), but my clothes were barely fitting because I was losing my flab, and toning up so nicely.

Last suggestion, dont be an over-acheiver and use too heavy of weights. I started off with 8lb weights (My ego set in; high-school/college athlete, and I run everyday). They made the workout really hard to where I was having to take breaks, not to mention the unbearable sorness for the following days after. I found that using 3lb weights was making it "easier" in that I was able to complete the workout in full, but I was also getting the same results, with less soreness.

Sorry for the novel, but I figured this might be able to help anyone get started! I plan on starting it again soon, I just need to find some motivation!!!

  • Oh good! I just would never want ANYONE to experience the soreness I did. I was such a you know what those couple days.

Good luck! Keep us all posted on how your doing!!!

  • I really enjoyed it, and it is super-duper intense. I'm a regular gym-goer and I was crazy sore after the first workout (helped me realize I needed to change up the gym workout, too!)

However, my knees didn't let me complete it all the way through. I noticed that my (already kinda bad) knees started hurting WAY worse when I did it. So, I had to put it away. So, if you have bad knees, beware.

But, it is a really great workout! Once you get the moves down, I highly suggest muting it and cranking your own tunes because Jillian is annoying. Haha!

    Good luck, ladies!

One of the great suggestions I read when I was going was that if you get bored with one workout, switch to the next - but allow yourself to modify the moves a lot to be at a pace you're comfortable with!  It can be really discouraging to have "mastered" level 1, then move to level 2 and feel like you're starting all over again, so let yourself jump between them a bit to change it up.  This really helped me stick with it a lot longer than I would have last summer!

ETA:  For example, I let myself "replace" some of the moves in level 2 with some of my favorites from level 1, until I felt ready to switch it up - and if I wanted to go back to level 1, I'd do the same thing by "replacing" some of the things with level 2 moves.  It was a good way for me to keep it interesting without overworking myself.

  • I'm loving the feed back so I am going to go get it this weekend so I can start when everyone else does too!
  • DrPB, thats a really good idea! I just remember moving onto level 2 and being like WTF was I thinking?! I thought I had mastered level 1, and then got to level 2 and realized that my muslces were not ready for the upped intensity. I am so going to try that!

Also, Jillian gets SO annoying as edw said! I would mute it, and put on my own workout music. You will want to strangle her!!! I remember yelling some obscenities at her frequently....

  • This thread has made me SOOOO excited to get mine! I am not sure if I can do it everyday though. Is that a problem? I was thinking more like every other day..... I always thought it was good for your muscles to have recovery time. Maybe not..... thoughts anyone? Maybe I will make it a 60 day shred! haha!

Chelsea, when I did this a year ago, I did it every other day. I still got results, it just took a little longer to start seeing them. I am going to do this with you ladies as well, and I am planning on going to the gym after work a few days a week as well. Good Luck every one!

  • I got mine in last night.  I'll aim for doing it in 30 days but it may be more like 60 depending on what my back can handle.  Some things it STILL doesn't let me do to my full potential.

  • I just got my dvd in the mail today and if I can find my weights around here, hopefully I'll start in a little bit.  Otherwise, I'm going to get some weights tomorrow and start.

Thanks for all the good advice ladies! :)

  • I got mine yesterday! Haven't tried it yet though.  Really excited to give it a shot.  I may try it out tonight.  I am also going to try to do it every day, but we will see if my body allows that to happen!!
