Rehearsal Dinner

I know there are probably only a handful of you that live in the Utica area, but I'm hoping to get a few responses here!  My FI's parents are hosting our rehearsal dinner and keep asking us where we would like to have it.  We can't decide.  Where are you having yours or do you have any suggestions?

My crazy FI loves Saranac so we are having ours at the Brewery.  However, I know that is not for everyone!  Bella Cucina in New Hartford has a really cozy room downstairs (One wall had a wine cellar look and another wall had a really nice fireplace-but the room is divided somehow with a half wall and there is not alot of room).  Michael T's also has a decent room downstairs and the buffet prices are very reasonable ($9-$11).  Ummm...let me think of more and I will get back to ya!

I live in the Utica area...

I have two questions for you first.
What kind of food do you and FI like?
Are you looking for a casual or more formal restaurant?

I can answer after you answer! :)  We haven't chosen our rehearsal dinner spot yet, but there are several places in Rome and Utica.

Um, I know the other girls (in Syracuse) had a get together a while ago, but since I've been on, you all are the first ones from Utica area on here.

I would love to get together with other Utica brides. :)

Let me make it clear to everyone: I love this board and everyone's super cool! Smile

Actually that is very cool!!  I mentioned the brewery forever ago for the actual wedding but our guest list is too big!  I wonder if we would be able to do this though, because our rehearsal will be on a Thursday since our wedding is on a Friday.  They may say no due to the fact that Saranac Thursdays are so busy.  Although we plan on going there after <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />.  I think I will look into this!  Do you have to have it catered, or how does that work?

For some background, we are having our reception at Daniele's on Seneca Turnpike.  So, we're hoping to have food at our rehearsal dinner that is a little different to give our guests some variety (we looked into Aqua Vino for our rehearsal dinner, but the menu was very similar ie. greens, pasta, and all that other Italian-ish food).

Oh!  I forgot to answer, no, I haven't met anyone in person from this board, but it does sound fun!

Reading my contract...and it says...for 20 people for 4 hours you get a brewery tour, bar pretzels, pizza squares, cheese tray, vegetable tray, Saranac beverages and a Saranac pint glass...for $30 a person.  We are also having food catered in..they don't provide an actual dinner, but I figure with my Irish family and his Italian family $30 for 4 hours of drinking is a steal :)  Also, minimum of 20 people and everyone over 20 people is another $30.  Need a $50 deposit.  And FYI if you need another indoor picture place I would ask about it when you book...if you do..cause she gave us a deal because of it.

Sorry...posting yet again....I hope I didn't offend the Syracuse people.  I would love even having a meeting at the casino or something...(I think that's halfway).  I just thought we live right next to each other it would be easy to meet up!

Okay, that helps a lot. :) Symeon's is different and you can book rooms for groups there. Mitsuba (the Hibachi place) or Sumo they're really different and it's fun with a lot of people. Not sure if you're into it. Celtic Harp upstairs (it gets loud in there, they have Irish pub food) and I'm sure there are more.

We could always do lunch there sometime!

I'm getting married in Utica as well! We are having our rehearsal dinner at Alee's. Classy and amazing food! Also try Aqua Vino or Valley View.

We both love Symeons!  My FMIL actually suggested this too, but then had second thoughts because it doesn't really have a bar area.  To be honest though, I don't really think this would be a problem if we planned on going to Saranac Thursday after!  I've heard good things about Alee's!  I'll have to look into that.

I'm actually glad you posted this topic because we're having trouble finding a place for the rehersal dinner also. But I didn't think of Simeons!! I'll have to tell FMIL they love it there. :)
