I went in for my "final" fitting yesterday and found that the lace on my dress has been damaged. It's on one side right on the top of the bust in a very noticeable area. I was not having any alterations done in that area..the only alterations were taking the straps in. The damage looks like something caught/cut/snagged the lace pattern. It is completely split and frayed on both ends and the area around it looks a little worn/frayed. The seamstess acted like it wasn't a big deal and said she could fix it by sewing it back together. I don't think it's going to look like it should though because it has frayed back already. The shop said "oh this happens all the time"...which didn't really make me feel any better. But they too acted like it was an easy fix. I let them know that I was very upset about it and they swore they could fix it. I want to be prepared when I go in to try it on again but I'm not sure what my next step should be. I bought and paid for a brand new dress and it has been damaged in their store. What course of action should I take if the "fix" that they promise is not satisfactory? My wedding is 11/3. I've already paid for the dress ($1300) but have not yet paid for the alterations ($100).
