New Here/ Venue Question

Hello Everyone,

My name is Alice, I'm new here.  My fiance and I are trying to decide on a venue for our May 2012 wedding.  We are looking at Branches in Long Branch, Doolan's Shore Club in Spring Lake and Versaille Ballroom in Toms River.  Does any one have any experiences or thoughts on any of these or other possibilities?   Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

I was at a baby shower at branches a few years ago and the food was very good. The Versaille Ballroom is owned by the same owner as my venue (The Crystal Ballroom in Freehold) and I hear great things about both places.

Was at two weddings at the Versailles Ballroom and thought it was great.  I wasn't crazy about the room the cocktail hour was in, but the food (both for cocktail and reception) was great and from what I remember the staff was great too.

One of my friends had her ceremony there and I really liked the way they had it set up.  A lot of places that have indoor ceremonies in the reception room it looks like well....a ceremony in the same room you party and have dinner.  They had the chairs in a semi circle around the "altar" (for lack of a better word) and the place did look different when we came back in from cocktail hour.

When we visited Doolans pre-renovations it was disgusting. Dirty, bugs everywhere, outdated and the owner was less than personable. I could not get out of there fast enough. Even though its had a major facelift I still would never ever want to go there again.

We ended up booking Crystal Point Yacht Club and I highly recommend checking them out.

If you go back a few pages you will find a thread about Doolans, Vanity Fare and Versailles are also mentioned.

A friend got married last May at Tim McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park. the food was great and I loved the atmosphere, very modern! Definitely check it out! I'm sure the prices are good because my friend doesnt have a ton of money.

My cousin was married at Merry Makers in Sea Bright. That was a great wedding as well! Also very well priced!

Check out Clarks Landing, Crystal Point and Channel Club.  All are owned by the same people.

Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies.  I did check out Merri Makers, but I'm going to look into the rest of your suggestions.

I was just at a wedding in Branches. Not a huge fan of the ballroom but the food was great! And getting to the entrance was a little awkward.

Thank you again for all of your responses and suggestions.  I took my Fiance to see the Versaille's Ballroom today in Toms River and he loved it as much as I do.  We booked it on the spot for June 1, 2012! :)
