Wind-proof Updo

I'm wanting something simple and elegant for my wedding hair.  However, I am getting married on a beach on the Charleston Harbor.  30 mph winds won't be unexpected.  I've taken that in account for everything except hair.  I was thinking a french twist for myself... I think with enough pins, it would be doable.  However, I'm thinking that it would not be fancy enough.  So, any ideas on wind-proof hair for me, and more specifically for my BM's?

Re: Wind-proof Updo

  • I think I would consult my stylist.  Also google "wedding hair" or something along those lines, you will get lots of images.  Also for inspiration, I looked at celebrity hair or Oscar hair and got a lot of inspiration as well.  personally, a french twist seems really old-fashioned.  You'd be surprised at what a good stylist will be able to come up with.  Good luck.
  • I'm not having a stylist.  At least not until I throw up my hands.  I did my own hair for both proms and all minor dances.  I have skills.
I'm just thinking to keep it simple bc with the wind, whatever you do won't matter much.Thinking of maybe a more modern twist by twisting "bang hair" into rows and securing right before the top of the twist.

What type of veil are you planning on, if any?  That might guide your options a bit.

We were originally going to get married on Folly and I was so worried about the wind.  We changed our minds and are getting married at Magnolia instead on the Ashley River, so while I'm still worried about wind, it's not as much, thankfully.  :)

I'm interested to see suggestions, though, because I am still lost on what to do with my hair.

  • Make sure you get some ultra hairspray!  I know I'll be depending on it!
