f/u to "would you give baby mom's name"

Since its slow this might provide some fun talking.
A few weeks ago I had posted about my friend deciding whether to give her baby her last name, or the baby's father's last name. He's 21, cheated on her several times, and has said numerous times he "never wanted to keep it anyways".

So she is currently in her 32nd hour of labor and little Logan Ryan is taking his sweet time. I talked to her sister (one of my best friends) and the baby is getting her name. No paternity test, not bothering with child support, and the dad is officially completely out of the picture.

Yeah, her sister has been with her the whole time. Now we're chatting on aol because Jen is asleep and she's getting bored haha. I told her to tell Jen that Logan got his stubbornness from her.

A friend of mine did this, the father ended up getting back in the picture, but at the time of the birth, little Matthew took his mommy's last name.

It was a huge relief to everyone that she finally made that decision. She was getting serious pressure from her grandparent's to "do the right thing" and give the baby his last name. Um..he's a dbag who is not going to be a part of the babies life, so no, he's not getting his name.

I think if she got back with him her sister would steal the baby and kick her (sister's, not baby's) butt.

Gag, I hate the do the right thing line. Giving the kid his last name is neither a right or wrong thing, it's a very personal choice.

Exactly, and considering dad is 6 years younger, has a bad history, and clearly told everyone he wanted nothing to do with the kid, why on earth would you encourage her to give his last name?

I voted hers just to get rid of confusion. Plus as one poster here pointed out "if things work out they can change his name later and its a good thing, verses changing it to hers later where its a bad thing"

Good. Even if dad was in the picture, I'd give the kid my name. Until I married the baby daddy, I'd want want my baby to have my name. I don't believe that a baby alone is a reason to marry, but if a guy wants to have the honor of having my child have his name, he can marry me and make us an honest family.
