color help please

So while Im deathly ill and basically vegging on the couch I have some time to think about our reception tables and how muted and blah it looks with what we chose so far.....which is completly NOT what we want.
Quick info on the venue for those that don't know: its an old mansion that was completely renovated. Lots of ivory, chandeliers in every room and these brassy goldish chiavari chairs in the reception space. Fi and I already purchased silver chargers and are using their gray napkins. They did have "orange" but it was more of a dark cinnamon with a pattern...bleh. Moving along... our only things of color will be the centerpieces and we decided to add small white favor boxes with a coral ribbon.
Im wondering if thats still not enough and if I should look into coraly orange chair sashes and napkins to give the place a bright, happy, summery feel which is what we both really want. Thoughts? Suggestions? I found peach sashes on efavormarts site but I dont know if they so samples.

Edit: Heres a photo of a recent wedding there to give an idea

Re: color help please

  • So are you having white tablecloths, then?

If you're in cost-effective mode, I'd say forego the chair sashes and instead try to get a sheer-detailed overlay tablecloth in one of the brighter colors that you love (or even a stand-alone table linen with texture could be fun). Chiavari chairs are pretty nice on their own, and having a sash on the back isn't going to be as entertaining to the eye as the focal point (table).
Also, if you can get your hands on affordable uplighting, that'll help warm up the room with fun colors.

Everythign they have their is ivory. They do not have white table linens at all. Edit: good point on the chairs. I'm not a fan of the gold on them but they do look really nice in the space. Oh and thanks for the idea on the overlays!! :)

  • Ditto on the overlays, or even table runner. I'm also worried about getting a little more color at our tables. . .
  • Yeah, ditto overlays or runners.  I'm thinking of doing a runner on our candles centerpieces to add a bit more color too.

  • I love the look of sheer overlays, and I don't think the fabric for them is too expensive at all, if you have the DIY bug!
  • I would do overlays or runners. We are doing white tablecloths and purple runner. Helps keep it crisp and clean, but has a nice pop to it.
