Hey guys,

How long did it take for you to get your marriage certificate after you turned in your signed license after the ceremony? Mine got turned directly into the town hall's clerk's office the Monday morning after the wedding (Sept. 20th) and nothing yet. I would really like to start the name change process with the RMV and Social Security Office and banks.

    You dont get the certificate back.  The original is filed with the town clerk.  You can request a certified copy.  Thats all you need to do name change.

    The certifiied copy was what I was yalking about. When we applied for the license, we paid for a certified copy to be sent to us.

    That is bizarre!! We where married on September 18th and our reverend mailed it in right away. it was available by September 28th, I went the day we got home from our honeymoon.  If they have it at the town clerks office, they just make a photo copy and certify it with the seal and stamp. I would call your JP, Reverend or whom ever married you. It should defiantly be back by now!!!! HTH
