Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Sorry dumb?

Okay so I have my reception song list, but I don't really know what kind of order they should be in. I have old and new country, 80's, a few 90's,and then so like 50's  and old rock. Should they be played in order like all the 80's back to back or should they all kind of be scrambled around. I was just worried that if it went from I wish by rascal flats then to sugar pie honey bunch by the four tops and then to kiss by prince people might be like WTF. Tell me what to do! lol Am I over thinking this?

I personally would mix them up.

I would mix them up also.  Can you give the list to your DJ and ask him to play the songs in whatever order he thinks is best?  I'm all for relying on professionals!

I agree with mixing it up also. I don't think your guests will think order is weird.

I would say mix it up a little, but do a couple of the same kind of songs in row. As a guest, you want to remember what people will like and want to dance to. Take myself - I dislike country music, so I would sit those songs out. But I would dance to some of the other genres. So if every other song is different, people will be up and down, up and down, etc., if they don't like every genre. Make sense? I would do 2 or 3 of the same kind of song, then switch to a different kind for a few more songs.
