I am getting married next July in Mystic, CT.  Anyone know of a great DJ? 

We are being very specific, as we have been to a number of weddings with AWFUL DJs that becomes such a memorable issue, one which I do not want to have!  We are pretty much looking for a DJ that will listen to our requests, follow our suggestions and taste in music, appease the crowd, has a good selection of music, and stays behind their DJ table (we don't want a DJ who is out with our guests jumping around dancing, singing, talking on the mic, etc)!

Any suggestions??

    Entertainment Unlmited is good, Mr Music Man.net is good and After Hours *Peter* from Enfield is good.  We are interviewing them all and have all good recommendations for them. This is one of the things that my FI really wants to be a part of.  Our planner recommended them all too. I am pretty sure we have attended our friends weddings with them too. So it will be hard to pick.  Don't go with Boppers though. We just went to a wedding where they had a HUGE sign up on the front of the DJ booth. We were NOT impressed at all.

    Ditto Peter from After Hours. They were really great to meet with (and will meet you somewhere else if Enfield is too far for you). They'll jump around/talk on mic for some people but stay behind the table for others, depending on what you ask for.

    He's our DJ, haven't gotten married yet but our meeting with him was great, he's really affordable, accessible, and I'm really excited for him to do our wedding!!

    LOL!!! That is hysterical!!!  I am guessing you do not want interactive entertainment!!

    Have you checked the recommended vendor list at the very top of the board?? There are a bunch of great DJ's on that list!!

    yeah, Jason Palermo or DJ Melee (same guy) is doing our wedding too....i've seen him at two weddings this year and he is really fantastic!  This is definitely not your cheesy type or the perfomer.  One thing that always stuck in my mind at our meeting was that he was not there to perform, he was there to "produce our wedding soundtrack".  I liked how that sounded.  He basically listened to all of our needs and concerns.  This guy does not stand up on tables or dance with guests. (I've seen awful DJs do that too!)  He knows his music and does custom entrances.  His prices are good too, probably worth more than he charges. Check him out, his website is www.musicbymelee.com

    the DJ that we're using DJ Harry ( Harry Gambardella) he has been great so far. And he asks you point out "how much interaction do you want" he can be the guy on the floor or he can sit behind the booth all night. We love him. He's out of Meriden but is traveling to our wedding Saturday all the way in Stonington.

    We used After Hours (Bert & Vinny)

    They were interactive (not actually dancing but was able to get everyone up)
    They have the best reviews on weddingwire.com and will do/play exactly what you want

    I am using DJ Shawn Taylor! He is great! He is really open to all the corny or not so corny songs you want to have played. I can forward you his info if you want.

    </div><div>Haven't gotten married yet but this is who we are using. We checked his band out at a restaurant and then met with him in person. He offers a 5 piece band/dj or sax during cocktail hour/dj. </div>
