Waikiki Dining

Hi again,
I know most of you ladies are Maui girls, but we're looking for a nicer restaurant in Waikiki to do a family/wedding party dinner the night before the wedding.  We'd prefer something overlooking the ocean.  I've got a few ideas, but most are a little more casual.  Any suggestions??  Thanks

Re: Waikiki Dining

  • Hey!
We are looking for somewhere to do a family rehearsal dinner the night before too in Waikiki.  I would love to know your more casual thoughts as that's what we're going for!

  • I've been looking at Hula Grill, Chuck's Steak House ar Dukes (though much louder) which are all in the Outrigger Waikiki.  Also looked into Roy's.

  • I am also getting married in Waikiki. We are doing a luau for the rehersal dinner because we thought that was a unique thing that couldn't be done on the mainland. I do not know about the others but I know that Dukes is a great choice. We ate there when I went with my family and it was very good with a great atmosphere.
  • Duke's is a great location. Definitely loud though.
  • We are getting married in Waikiki too..... we are doing dinner at Dukes....I have been there before with my family and we LOVED it there!!!!

  • Hi ladies, I'm getting married on Waikiki also but am looking for a little bit more fancier of a restaurant for me and FI to have dinner on our wedding night. I will be in my gown so I don't want to look awkward at a casual place, and definitely somewhere that you can see the ocean, outside is even better! Any ideas??

  • We went to Roy's when we were staying in Waikiki and the food was amazing!!  The location we went to wasn't anything great (across from the Halukelani) but the food was absolutely to die for.

  • For those who have been to Duke's, do you think you would be able to have a separate section there for the dinner so you can have a couple of toasts? Or is it really busy?
Finding casual dining places that also allow for large groups is turning out to be hard!

  • Hula Grill is directly above Duke's, is quieter and has a better view.

  • I love Dukes, and I've heard amazing things about the food at Roy's.  I'm thinking something a little quieter than Dukes, and I'd prefer ocean front.  I think hula Grill is a front runner at the moemnt for us

  • I remember the menu between Dukes and Hula Grill being very similar since they are part of the same restaurant chain/family. It was just quieter, classier, and as I mentioned had a better view because you were higher than Dukes and not directly looking at the people who were at the Barefoot bar. We had a great view of Diamond Head from our table at Hula Grill.

  • We ate at the Hula Grill on our scouting trip in December. The food was great and the view on the lanai was amazing...especially at sunset! Highly recommended :)
