wine glass charms.....too girly for everyone?

my idea is slice wine corks into circles....add on a sml ring and ribbon to tie around the wine glass....as ppl enter the reception i was thinking to have the full alphabet in rubber stamps and a few diff colors of ink.  the guests could stamp their first name initial into the cork for the wine charm and use it during the reception. is it a bad idea to have the guests stamp their own?  or should i just do it for them before and have their names on them already? its for about 70 ppl.

my fh says wine charms are too girly for favors (i can see that i guess).....we don't wanna break the bank on favors...but i'd like to have something wine related.

this is similar to what i had in mind:

Re: wine glass charms.....too girly for everyone?

  • Too girly.
  • I think it's too girly. I don't know of any of my guy friends who would like those and many of my girlffriends would probably have no use for them either. You may like wine, but not all your guests may.

Favors are only optional, so it's OK to skip them completely if you can't think of something else affordable that you want to do.

If you're going to do them, have them pre-made.  It is rather girly, but if you want to do them for the logistics of people keeping tabs on their glasses, go ahead.  I don't consider an item I use at the wedding to be a favor.
  • I honestly don't see the point of wine charms at a reception and as a favor, it would just get tossed.

    Ditto.

Also, who wants one wine charm? I thought you meant a set as favors, which is kind of girly, but fine I guess.
  • i made wine charms for favors (and then loved doing it so much i started a shop. haha).... but they were a personalized set that had items that meant something to us (a tag that said our names and date, a 'thank you' charm, a 'love' charm, a blue bead to represent the school we met at, etc)

our whole wedding was 'italian food and wine' themed, so it really fit right in. personally, i dont care if the men toss them or shove them in a drawer. they were fun to make =)

if you don't want something overly girly, but still like the concept, maybe they might go over better at a shower instead of the wedding?
other favor ideas might be cork coasters or something else wine-related.
