MyFitnessPal?

So I just started using the MyFitnessPal app to track my eating and activity. I'm liking it so far, but when I went to the gym yesterday and entered what I did, the app told me how many calories I burned in cardio, but gave me a null value for calories burned during strength training. I have to admit, I was pretty annoyed that half my workout apparently counted for nothing! I mean, it's logical to get credit for both types of exercise, right? Weight Watchers gives you points for strength training, why wouldn't MFP? Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: MyFitnessPal?

  • If you enter it under strength training, it doesn't add calories.  But if you enter the strength training exercise under cardio it will give you approximate calories burned.  I just enter it under cardio now, rather than the exercises I actually did that day.

  • You have to add your strength training under cardio, then it will give you an estimate. You can't put in the specific exercises you did, but you can put in the minutes. Keep in mind unless you are doing circuit training your heart rate is not up as much so you will not burn as many calories as a moderate to vigorous cardio work out.

  • Yep, that fixed it. Thanks, ladies!
