Question of the day..

Ha ha, so maybe I won't have a question every day, but you guys have been so helpful!
So, my reception is being held in the afternoon, starting at 1pm, with a casual feel (no ceremony, since we already be wed).  My question, I love dancing , and that will be an important part of the reception.  Should I plan on the reception being 5 hours long, to extend the fun....or is that too long and we should end at 4 hours?

Thanks!

Just a side note:  We are also extending the celebrating that night by going out to Jesse Black's and inviting all guests for that Laughing

We extended our reception an additional hour to make it 5 hours {6 actually including cocktail hour}... best decision ever, so much fun!

Depends.  Are you having a cocktail hour and a full three course meal?  If you are having those things, it will take up at least three hours.  It also depends on whether it's a buffet or a sit down meal and how many people you have.  If you have a lot of people, buffets can take longer for everyone to eat.  People are also much less willing to dance in the afternoon and you might get some who will leave a little early.  You could probably get away with four hours but what I would do is make the alcohol by consumption only for the last hour and then decide whether I wanted to extend it an hour during the party depending on how lively the party is.  Just reserve the room for five hours to be safe.

it's up to you, but i always leave receptions after about 3 hrs! if you didn't have a cocktail hour i MIGHT stay for 4, but that's still iffy. :)
