Looking for a contingency ceremony location

Hi Ladies - sorry that my first post is asking for help but I know you all will have some great suggestions!!

Short story: Our wedding is December 29, 2012. We were planning on the ceremony at St. James in Manchester, but the catholic church changed its mind regarding my previous marriage and now I need to get an annulment.

While I anxiously wait for a reply on that, which probably won't come in time, I need to find a contingent location for the ceremony... and a JP. I think I can find the JP without a problem. Our reception is at A Villa Louisa in Bolton. We could have the ceremony there, on the dance floor, with people at their dinner tables, but I'd prefer a more traditional feel to the ceremony. Any ideas for ceremony locations within like 15 minutes of Manchester, indoor, and not a church? TIA!

I got married at Wickham Park in Manchester.  They have manys sites in the park for ceremonies.  I also had my reception there so I used the Cabin garden site but there is several other sites in the park where they just do ceremonies. I really like the English Garden.  It's super gorgeous, a great place to get your pictures done too.

  • I actually really love Wickham Park. But I'm getting married in December, and am afraid to roll the dice - it could be 20 degrees and snowing or 80 degrees and sunny with our crazy weather around here!

Maneeley's was actually our second choice for the reception. Have any brides here done a ceremony there (or seen one)? We're expecting 250-300 guests. Maybe the Lodge will hold that many for a ceremony (I think it's 200 max for a reception, but without tables maybe it could work.)

Sorry, my foggy pregnant brain skipped right over the Dec 29th part.  How bout city hall in Hartford? or even Manchester?  Hartford is gorgeous and Manchester is pretty neat looking too.

I'll have to check out Manchester city hall to see if they can accommodate all of us, and will let us use the building on a Saturday. Thank you for the suggestion.

SN: No apology ever needed for baby brain - it's a serious side effect but hopefully temporary! :)

We're having our wedding and ceremony at A Villa Louisa in Bolton. They're setting up the ceremony in front of one of the fire places (using 1/3 of the room). Would that be a possibility or is the guest list so large that you need the whole ballroom?

Edit - Nevermind. I saw your post about 250-300. :(

  • If you haven't had any luck finding a ceremony site yet - Manchester Country Club is not too far from A Villa Louisa.  Website says they can accommodate 165 guests, but that's for a reception - maybe for just a ceremony they could fit 250-300?
    Good Luck!
