Cake Topper

Sooo I've been going back and forth about ordering this cake topper. My FI loves it and it's one of the only things he really got to help me choose as opposed to me just sending links and asking if he liked what I had chosen.  I'm a little hesitant to spend that kind of money on a cake topper but it can be customized to match FI's dress blues. I know it's a lot of money for a topper, but I think it's perfect. What do you ladies think?

That is a sh!tton of money for a cake topper.  It's really nice, but that's just a lot of money.. Of the ones I've seen like that, all the other ones were really old fashioned (long sleeve dresses and big 80's hair).  Ours was from etsy and it was also customized to H rank, ribbons, and eye color! And it was like $60 I think. The vendor has all of her military stuff at a discounted price.  I can post a pic if you want when I get home.. HTH.

    ETA: Pics

I didn't have a good pic of his rank, but there it is.  She asked about ribbons, but the syle we chose they didn't show.. Here's all of her military stuff, she has a few different styles. It totally fit our personalities, and our whole wedding..

Ditto Sami. I am sure you can find other cake toppers cheaper than that, they do make SM ones. Try Etsy, l've seen other girls order from there and they turned out great! Also they go for half the price of this one like Sami said. I wanted a customized cake topper for us too, but I did not want to spend a lot of money on it, since it'll just be sitting around. We got a monogram instead and also sugar flowers.

Can you fit it into your established budget? If you both really love it and can manage to shave off 100 bucks from something else, then I'd say there's no question!

If there's no wiggle room in the budget and this would put you over, that's a pretty tough question. I'd ask myself if it's even possible for us to go over budget at all without screwing ourselves financially, and if so, is this THE extra nice thing that we want to go over budget for? We wouldn't want to let ourselves make exceptions for more than one or maybe two things or it'll start adding up quick. But it sounds like you're both really into it, and it would make a lovely keepsake.!

Sami-yes please post a pic if you can remember! I looked on etsy but not for very long, and didn't see anything, but I probably need to look a little more thoroughly for sure.

I know it's a lot of money..that's why I'm so hesitant. FI has offered to pay for it but he's out of state until the end of the month (or longer) and if we order that particular one, I need to order it now because of shipping time.

I really like it!  But what's important is that your FI is excited about it.  Honestly, if he loves it and is willing to pay for it, I'd say do it.  The grooms often do not get involved in wedding planning, so I feel like it's worth it to indulge them when they get excited about something!

I agree it's alot of money for acrylic.

If it was made by Herend, Spode, Lennox, or some other high end porcelain company AND you are into porcelain(like me) plus have a china cabinet, I would say go for it but that's not the case here because it's hard plastic.

The ladies have given great suggestions maybe you both can find something from their suggestions that is liked just as much and cheaper.

Were you able to change the hair length/style? I found this one and I like it but FI said it didn't look like me because my hair is longer. I"m much more comfortable with those prices than I am of the other.

It's just such a bummer, since they're clearly the exact same toppers, but mine is way cheaper. I wonder why JWC doesn't have more choices in Army uniforms? If there's a contact place on her website, try it out and ask her about it. Maybe even send her the link to yours? Shipping was super fast on mine, even with the changes, so maybe it'd be okay!

I'll start by saying that it's your money to spend, so if you like it and want it, go for it.

However, speaking as someone who has already had their wedding, I am so happy that we only spent $12 on our cake topper ($20 one at Michael's with a 40% off coupon - pic of it in my bio).  I loved our cake topper because it was funny, but hardly anyone actually saw it at our wedding.  Most people who said anything about it commented after seeing the pictures of it, but didn't see it at the wedding.

Again, only you can decide what's worth the money to you.  But I can 100% tell you that the cake topper is something that many people won't see, and you won't notice at all on your wedding day.  I'm still happy with our $12 one, and would probably be kicking myself now if I had spent $140 on it.

    <div>Totally agree!</div><div>
</div><div>I"m not a huge fan of cake toppers in general, the sole reason we have one is because I felt like I needed it in order to really make it a "wedding cake" but it's just a crystal 'S' for FI's last name....the part is that the cake baker is letting us rent theirs for next to nothing. </div><div>But for your topper, once it's no longer sitting on your cake, you can put it somewhere in your house, on a mantle or in a china cabinet or something like that. It's not like it's $130 being thrown away. I say get it if you and FI love it. </div><div>

True, to clarify, after reading what I wrote I did sound like I was saying no to you, but that was if it was me. All my posts are posted on how<strong> I</strong> personally feel and don't mean to come across to change/ruin anyone's mind or dreams :)

Ours sits on my dresser with pictures of H and I.  Once we move, it'll probably be on a bookshelf or mantle.  I liked it because it's not HUGE, and IMO totally adorable.  It doesn't take up much space which is nice..

Thank you so much! I can't wait to show FI when he gets back from training. I'm going to double check with him to make sure he still wants this one. It's still a lot of money for a cake topper, but I feel better about it since you showed me the same one for much cheaper :)
