Have you tried contacting area fairs and getting names of their vendors?  There's so many going on in the summer it shouldn't be too hard.  I wouldn't stress if you can't find it though as it's probably one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of.

I work for an event office in Boston. We rented a ferris wheel last summer, and it was such a pain.  First of all, we ended up using a company out of Kentucky because it was the closest we could find.  There are multiple permits that we needed to get (although it would most likely be less if you are out of a city) and you need a special inspector, that is expensive and can be difficult to schedule.

Eh it came out wrong but my point stands: just don't do it. Your wedding is not a carnival.

Agree, notquiteblushing -- totally inappropriate. And who are you to say what's right for someone else's wedding?

I'm just trying to help out, save a bride from the terrible fate of being remembered for having a ferris wheel at her wedding.  But whatever if she wants it I gave her some advice too.  The best bet would be to hire a wedding planner to coordinate the headache described by the previous poster.

For the record I personally think it is a very creative idea to have a ferris wheel...I just think think that it could be more trouble than it is worth

I guess it just sticks out as one of those ostentacious things you see on Bridezillas and other shows.  I mean I'm just guessing here but it would probably run at least $10k, correct?

i'm surprised so many people are so in love with the idea of a ferris wheel at your wedding... have you seen the traveling ones?  they're always gross and old and seem creepily unsound.  you'd be better off having a summer wedding at a summer park or fairgrounds where it's actually pretty...in any case @yrothste if you're looking in upstate ny for a ferris wheel to come to boston, as notquiteblushing mentioned i hope you have a cushy budget.
