Need Hawaii HM recs/advice

We are using timeshare to book our week in Hawaii.  We dont know where to start first, so we want to narrow it down to an area or an island, something to cut down our choices.  Our criteria, we want lots of things to do that have nothing to do with water or laying around doing nothing.  We like cultural things, history, entertainment, shows, stuff like that, no laying around a beach or snorkel, or windsurf. Thanks

Do not go to Kauai then.  Oahu and maybe Maui would be your best bet but definitely Oahu for history and culture.  Old Lahaina Luau on Maui is fabulous and very authentic.

oh forgot to add, FI doesnt like to fly so puddle jumpers have to be kept to a minimum, I know we will have to do it once for Pearl Harbor, but dont want to be doing it all the time.

Pearl Harbor is on Oahu.  You could stay there for the majority of time - explore lots of Pearl Harbor and the other areas connected to it, climb diamond head, go to polynesian cultural center, do the lost tour (it's gorgeous), horseback riding if you want.  Then head over to Maui for one night if you like for the Luau and to see Maui for a bit.

Brad, I would recommend starting your trip in Oahu....there is Pearl Harbor, the Cultural Center, Diamond Head, USS Missouri, The Aviation Museum.  I would then take Hawaiian Airlines (larger planes) to Maui.  I would recommend the Old Lahaina Luau, the road to hana, haleakala valcano and I am sure there is plenty else to do.   My favorte island was Kauai but I love laying around and doing nothing ( would not suggest this laid back island for you).

Kauai has more to do than just lay around but it is a relaxing place if you choose to do that.  It offers some of the best hikes in Hawaii on the Napali coast (these are demanding hikes). You can also...-Go see spouting horn-Drive up to Princeville, catch a few waterfalls along the way, and hike to the queens bath.  End up at Ke'e beach- Drive up and see the Waimea Canyon- Take a boat or Helicopter tour of the Napali Coast (inaccessable by land)

Maybe a silly question, but if you want culture, history etc., why are you going to Hawaii instead of, say, Europe?   The point of Hawaii is essentially to lay on the beach.  There's some culture and history and entertainment, but you'd maybe find a lot more elsewhere.  I would maybe reconsider your plan. I agree with the others that it doesn't sound like Kauai is for you-- Waimea Canyon is neat but it takes like half a day, Spouting Horn is AWESOME but takes like 20 minutes (including 10 minutes of watching it over and over again because it is so neat), and your fiancee may not like the helicopter ride if she doesn't like puddlejumpers. Maui might be better but again there's not much culture there... but you have a few days of stuff.  And Oahu has the most stuff to do but I have heard that it is overly built up and kind of eh.
