gift giving question

my very good friend from high school got engaged in December, and the wedding is this weekend (July 25).they have been living together for 5 years and she did not have an engagement party or a shower bc they have what they need.i want to give them a little extra something for the wedding gift bc i dropped the ball and didn't send them an engagement gift, even though i wanted to. do i just give them more and leave it at that? do i write a note in card explaining? do i give them a check for the wedding and something else (they have a HM registry)? what would you do?

If you want to give a check and then a certain amount towards the honeymoon registry you can. I don't really think an explanation is necessary.

Definitely no explanation.  If you want to give a bit extra towards the HM registry then go for it.

I would prob just give a larger gift if you want to give more. At this point, I assume you'll be doing the HM online, which means a percentage of the $$ will come off the top, so why not just give the whole amount directly to them? They are just going to get the cash anyway.

I agree just give them a larger amount and no explanation.
