Golf Clubs for Him?

Me again. Ok, so my FH is thinking that he really wants golf clubs on the registry (registered for each club individually). My first instinct was that this was crazy. But I know a lot of people who've registered for tools, adirondack chairs, camping equipment, etc. And it's along the same lines. I no longer think it's crazy. Have you ever seen that on a registry?

I've seen camping equipment like a tent and stuff, so I wouldn't really think anything about it, but the registry is supposed to be stuff for you two as a family. Do you golf also, or would that just be a gift for him? I'd probably think soemthing of it if I knew the couple well enough to know the gift was for just one of them.

That's what I thought at first, too. And still do, sort of. It would be a gift just for him. Though he really wants me to start golfing (which I want to do) but we will just buy my golf clubs. Eventually. He feels like the rest of the registry stuff is for me more than him (he doesn't care too much about kitchen appliances, sheets, towels, dishes, etc - and I do). He doesn't see the long-term big picture and how it's for our future home & family. He'd be thoroughly satisfied if we used the same stuff I've had for ten years, for the next twenty years. Hmmmmmmmmm..........

Yes, but he would be using the kitchen appliances. Even if he doesn't cook, he eats. He would sleep on the sheets and dry off with the towels. I would equate it to having a make up organizer or something.

So, he tells me last night that he was just joking about the golf clubs. HE SO WAS NOT. But he's over it. No golf clubs. (Now he just wants me to buy them for him as a gift!)

I don't like seeing too much random stuff on registries mainly because I don't think a wedding is an excuse to ask people to get the B&G everything their little hearts desire . Even though many guys could care less about towels, china and mixers, the gifts are for the couple and their home. The golf clubs seem too individual to him and too much of a hobby for him; and not, here's something for your new life together. It's like a bride registering for a designer purse. That all said, I think it's okay to put one or two "fun" items on the registry as longs as it's for both people. I have friends who registered for Rock Band (both really wanted it) and a couple of the groomsmen went in on it.
