Bahamas

Does anyone have any all inclusive recommendations in the Bahamas besides Sandals?  Doesn't seem like there are too many AI options there... thanks!!

Re: Bahamas

  • We just got back yesterday from our honeymoon at Atlantis in the Bahamas, so I figured I would comment. We stayed next door at Comfort Suites which is affiliated with Atlantis and right next door, and the rooms were bigger and nicer than what you would get at Atlantis in their royal, beach, or coral towers. It came with free breakfast. It also allowed you free access to everything Atlantis has as if yopu were sleeping there, otherwise it is 80 dollars a day to use Atlantis amenities and the waterpark. It was not all-inclusive but it cost us a little over $3000 for 7 nights and we ate amazing food including Bobby Flay's restaurant Mesa Grill and the Marketplace three times which is an upscale buffet of really amazing food. I also got a massage and we went on the wave runners, snorkeled at Atlantis and swam with the dolphins. I also had one drink every day by the pool or on the beach. If you like to drink more than that you might want to look into something all-inclusive. It was the most amazing resort I have ever been to. We were there all-day every day. Bahamas can be very run-down in some areas and this resort was very Americanized and I felt comfortable there. Dont know that I would ever stay anywhere else in the Bahamas. The Rui was next door to us but it looked small and boring compared to Atlantis, we passed by it on the wave runner and it didnt seem anything special. Plus I heard a lot of negative comments about the food there.

  • We stayed at the Breezes resort in the Bahamas.  We had a phenomenal time. But I will warn you: this is not for people that are used to and/or expect 5 star accomodations.  The resort was fine for us (it wasn't dirty or anything) but it was not the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at.  We had a great time participating in activies (I took flying trapeze lessons) but there were also a lot of spring breakers around when we were there.  They didn't bother us because we were there to drink and have a good time (just like they were) but some of the older crowd at the resort was annoyed with their behavior.  We thought the staff was great but some had difficulty with them and thought they were rude.  We found that if you smiled, said hello, and asked how they were before you asked them your question or told them what you wanted they were more pleasant that if you just starting demanding things. The beach is gorgeous, their pool is great (but cold) and the food was just okay.  We didn't starve and the ala carte restaurants were nice while the buffet was typical of an AI buffet.Let me know if you would like more information.
  • Harbour Island in the Bahamas has some fantastic hotels. I think Ramora Bay may be all-inclusive? Not sure... The Coral Sands Beach Resort is amazing!
  • We went to Atlantis in July of 2006.  It was pricey then and even pricier now.  However, it was just complete awesomeness.  They've done so much to it.  A beautiful resort and the food was GREAT.  Thought about going back there for our honeymoon because hubby loved it but decided to try something new.  Trying to get hubby to agree to a Feb. 2010 visit ;-)

  • I have not been to the Bahamas, but was planning a wedding there 2 years ago. Switched 2 Jamaica though. However, we were considering  the RIU on Paradise Island since it was all inclusive. Not sure how good it is. Tripadvisor.com may have some reviews.
