Do you need a cake stand?

Hi! I am getting a 4 tiered square cake for our wedding, and was wondering if we NEED a cake stand?  I have been to weddings and really have not noticed too much, but was curious what everyone out here in knottie world was doing?

No- a cake stand is not a necessity. You can dress up the table with pretty linens, flower petals, colored pebbles, votives, a few artistically placed green & flowers at the base of the cake, etc. And don't forget to have your venue/caterer provide a small plate and napkin at the table for your cutting ceremony! Also, please DO pay attention to WHERE the table will be located! Avoid kitchen doors, fire hydrants or a wall full of light switches behind the cake table! You may not think of it at the time, but will see it in every photo for the rest of your life. ugh.

I would ask your baker - they will tell you what they recommend.  I just displayed my cake on a wooden table (pics in bio) and we did not need a cake stand.
