Music question--past and future Winfield Inn brides!

Hi ladies, I'm new to the board and planning a wedding for next fall. First off, thanks for all the great advice I've read on here--I've gotten ideas for venues I didn't even know existed! We REALLY like the Winfield Inn and are strongly considering holding the wedding there. Our only big concern is that a big priority for us is to have a rowdy live band (possibly with a horn section, multiple singers, etc) and the decibel restriction there is lower than other places (70 dB as measured from the grounds surrounding the ballroom). They assured us that the ballroom has great acoustics that really amplify the sound and that it wouldn't be a problem, but I was curious if the rest of you Winfield brides could weigh in on that. Did any of you have a live band? With a live band or a DJ, did you feel that the music was loud enough? Did the ballroom indeed amplify the sound? Will local bands have issues with this 70 dB restriction? Thanks in advance for any advice!

There are lots of Winfield brides out there so I am sure you will get many responses- but just to let you know that my photographers are long time family friends and I e-mailed them after seeing this post because I know they have shot several weddings there. Mark responded this morning and told me that one had a band and was a blast. Music loud enough, had great sound and they ended around 11pm. Sounds like a super fun party!

Hello and welcome! I am a Winfield bride getting married on Sept. 12. So, while I can't speak from experience from my own wedding, I can tell you about their open house they had about a month ago. They had a DJ and it was very loud in the garden ballroom. FI and I had to stand very close and talk loudly to hear one another. However, we stood outside the ballroom chatting about layout in our normal voices for about 15 minutes and had no problem hearing one another. I was really shocked how an outdoor ballroom with no walls could hold in sound the way it did. We hired a DJ and I actually didn't know about the dB limitation. Jillers and Victrola recently got married there (Vic is on her HM right now) and Mujerboricua is getting married there in November. HTH and let me know if you have any more Winfield questions!!
