Normal and customary for limos?

Out of curiosity for those of you who have already booked or have already had your weddings, with the limo companies, did you have to pay for the the entire limo fee beforehand?  Or how was it set up if not?  It makes me nervous to pay them everything beforehand because then you have no leverage.  I know a lot of you are using all occasions--how did they operate?  TIA!

From what I recall, we paid a $200 deposit with All Occasions. We paid the rest, in cash, the day of the wedding. I think they accept credit cards too.

We might have paid $100 max and then the rest the day of the wedding.  I used Thomas Limousine.

We just booked All Occasion and we used a credit card to hold the date and no deposit needed. They emailed me back and said we can just pay them the day of. I am sure you can send in payments if you wanted. HTH!!

Thanks for the replies, ladies!  I am finding it a little odd that the one limo co. wants us to pay $1,100 BEFORE we ever use their services and was interested to hear what other limo companies do!

i booked all occasion as well, and just like jenya said, you just need a credit card to hold the limo. you can put down a deposit if you want, but they won't charge anything unless you ask them too.

We are using Thomas Limousine in Akron and going with the 28 passenger party bus. The bus is really nice and clean and has lots of room! It was only $750 for 4 hours. $200 deposit and the remainder is due 2 weeks prior to the wedding.

yes - jefisher05 - it is odd - dont do it! i just got married this past weekend and hubby and I paid all up front. the limo that came to the church was filthy, smelly and falling apart inside....the outside was fantastic -but it definitely wasn't what we paid for. We ended up calling steve kish - the owner of platinum limousine - www.platinumlimoh2.com and he told us that the contract was already through and he would not give us one penny of our money back. He was also very VERY rude to me on the phone. GO WITH YOUR GUT!!!!! Please!!! and do not go through someone you feel is giving 'bad vibes'. they usually are slimeballs!

Definately do not pay that!! Any company worth their salt will not ask you for that up front. As other girls said, we are using All Occasion and they are merely holding our card without charging it. We can pay the balance a couple of days before the wedding.
