How long is your grace period for RSVPs?

Our RSVP deadline is this Saturday for our March 17th wedding.  While we have about 80%- 90% of the response cards back, we're still waiting to hear from about 12 guests (some couples).  I would assume that they're not planning to come considering they've had the invitation for over 5 weeks now and probably should have already made plans.

The other side is that these people were mostly guests that my FFIL invited (FSMIL's family who we don't really care if they come or not) and we're actually very happy with our guest list now and are right at where we wanted to be with 175 guests.  We are totally willing to pay for our extras since we invited them, but we're fine with everything as it is now, KWIM?  If you're giving guests a grace period, how long?

FFIL reminded them a few weeks ago of the deadline so we're not making any phonecalls to them if we haven't heard after the deadline.  Just wondering how long you're waiting before submitting the final count.

  • Deadline is tomorrow, I'm calling on Sunday lol! I've had the worst time with this whole RSVP thing and I have to know a "PRETTY GOOD" estimate by the 24th. 133 have not responded!!!! >:0

  • Oh my gosh, LoverBean!

133 haven't responded and the deadline is tomorrow?! Thats insane.
Our deadline is Feb 17th too and I think I'm gonna give them a few more days til I start calling stragglers.

  • Don't just assume they aren't coming!! Terrible Idea. We gave them a week then called them and either couldn't get ahold of them or did and gave them a by tonight deadline and I still had and I still had 9 rsvps after that. People are so rude. Literraly just got one in the mail yesterday and my rsvp date was March 1st. and of course it was a yes and of course my parents had no balls to tell them it was too late.
  • i cant see the post but based off your title-I am doing a full week i think!  our rsvps are due sat so I think my final cut off will be feb 24

  • My due date is next Friday, and I'm going to start chasing people up the weekend immediately following - so no grace period at all!

<div>If people respond after Tuesday, will you still allow them to come?  I'm so inclined to not allow anymore after the deadline but don't know what I'd do if it actually happened. It's just the rudeness of responding late that annoys me and makes me want to tell them no, sorry, we're done.</div>
  • Jana, I'd give it four days to a week, but DEFINITELY give them a courtesy call and say 'if we don't hear from you by x date, we will have to assume you are a no.' Not calling them and assuming they aren't coming is a recipe for having a few people show up and have nowhere to sit. While it's technically their fault, as the hosts, it will end up falling on you, so you might as well prepare for it.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I'm still bitter, but my venue sucks. They were due the month before I sent my invitations out. *huff*

However, for seating chart purposes, I'm giving it another week. :) Good luck!
  • My RSVP date is the 25th but I emailed everyone to nicely tell them to send them back last night and let everyone know about our website. My ceremony venue wants a final count for insurance 30 days out (the 23rd, ooops), so I might have to do some over estimating.
  • This RSVP stuff is SO freaking annoying!!! I mean, haven't these people ever thrown a good size party?

My wedding is March 17th, and I gave them until Feb 17th to respond.  My closest family members haven't even RSVP'd which urks me!!!  I'm not giving anyone a grace period....they had the invites since January 5th!!  thats enough grace time...i'm calling them tomorrow.
