Guest Book Craft

I really wanted to have a polaroid guest book, but the film is super expensive. We then thought "maybe we can make boxes on the pages of the empty guest book and tell people to not write there because photos were going to go there and then take a photo of them with a digital camera. Does this sound like a good idea or a mess?

  • By "tell people not to write there", I take it you'd actually write that inside the empty box?  If so, I think that'd work for 99% of people.  The digital pic of everyone according to who signed could be bit of a logistical nightmare, though, if you want all (and only) the signers on the page in the same pic. So to sum up, sounds like a good idea with potential to be a bit messy :o)
  • Could you just put out scrapbook pages for people to write in, and then later you can make an opposite page with pictures of those people? You can eventually put them all together in a scrapbook.I would also put out photosharing cards so people can get copies of the pictures if they want them (and you should upload them, obviously)

  • Sorry, I write posts like a kndergarten. Yes, we would write in the squares "Please don't write here." or something along those lines. The only thing I can see going wrong is if too many people write on the same page....there aren't enough spaces for more than 4 couples to sign on the page.

  • It sounds like something that you would start on, but maybe not finish.  You'd always have a pile of digital pictures you need to put in an album.

  • Yeah Shelley, as soon as people started responding on this, I thought, "wow, this is going to be a lot of work....ick, work." I'll have to think it over some more...

  • Honestly, it sounds too complicated to me.  I was at a wedding this weekend with a Polaroid guest book and people couldn't figure it out until the bride asked a couple of her friends to usher it around from table to table explaining to people what to do.  If Polaroid isn't self-explanatory enough, I think the digital camera would be even harder.
