Newby

Hi Ladies! I am new to the forum but very excited to be a part of it! I have been engaged for almost a year now and am just getting the ball rolling on many details of our June 2010 wedding in DE I am going to need a lot of help along the way for a number of reasons: 1) I live in Charlotte, NC and have NEVER lived in Delaware which means I know nothing about the area! 2) My fiance lived in DE for 18 years, but unfortunately is the "sure babe, whatever you want.." groom- very agreeable but not much help! 3) I am in nursing school full time, in the process of building a house, moving into the house, graduating and taking the RN boards all before the wedding! 4) I have only been to 2 weddings ever, my fiance- 1 ! Clearly I am going to have many ?'s! The plus side is I am energetic, willing to learn and have a clear idea of what I want! At this point I just wanted to introduce myself to you all (you will probably hear me say "yall" from now on, I do live in the south ya know!) and give you a couple details so you know where I am coming from. Currently we have the date, the church, the reception venue, the dress and the BM dresses...... So next step......wedding planner.....anyone have any suggestions or used any one?? I am going to try and do some on my own, and with the help of "yall", but my West Coast mom insists..... Thanks in advance! Eager to get started.....

Hi there, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and welcome to our board! We would love to hear more details about your big day! As for a wedding coordinator, I would HIGHLY recommend Carina from Remember This Day.  She coordinated my wedding on July 11, and she was absolutely invaluable to me on that day...actually, I don't know what I would have done without her throughout the whole process!  She is so sweet and fabulous to work with, and on top of every detail.  Not to mention very affordable! Also, just wanted to tell you that I also was going through nursing school throughout the planning process, and graduated 2 months before my wedding, so I know exactly what you are going through!  If there is anything I can help you with in that regard, please let me know!  Congrats again and good luck with your planning!!!

Hi Melissa!  Congratulations and welcome to the board!  I got married June of this year and it was an awesome day!!I used Erin Proud from Proud to Plan.  Erin was awesome from the moment I met her!  She has tons of experience, which made me feel very comfortable hiring her.  The days leading up to our wedding she made me feel at ease.  She spoke with all of our vendors and designed a time line for the day of which assisted everyone in knowing what was taking place and when.  The day of she was awesome.  It rained and she showed up to the hotel with 2 huge umbrellas.  I never even thought to ask her!  She thinks of everything and has great ideas to pass along to brides.  She also could assist you with vendor recommendations.  My DH and I say now how we wish we would have met Erin before booking some vendors to get guidance.  There are a ton of reviews for her on my fox philly.  Here is the link to check it out http://myfoxphilly.cityvoter.com/proud-to-plan/biz/335648I hope that works.  Good luck with everything and enjoy the planning process!!

St. Ann's is a beautiful church.  It was my church growing up and I went to grade school there. :-)

I dont post much anymore, but I also recommend Erin from Proud to Plan!  I planned a wedding in DE from DC so I know a bit of what you are going with.  Erin has so much experience and expertise with planning that she was able to help me with vendors and logistical stuff.  Good luck!

Melissa - I started working as a nurse over a month ago, and I absolutely love it.  I haven't taken my boards yet.  Scheduled for next Friday, 7/31.  Can't wait to get that over with!  But just wanted you to know that getting through nursing school while planning a wedding is definitely possible!!!

Melissa I am also a Greenville Country Club Bride! Congrats!! You are going to love working with Linda! She is great over there! We just got married there in May and the guests are still raving about the place. As for DOC, I used Carina and she was great. Not a thing went wrong the day of and if it did, I had no idea it did b/c it was taken care of before I noticed. She was super. I also used Erin Proud for my invites and stationary and she did an amazing job! She also had some great insight on little last minute things that I had forgotten. For example, she recommended putting a sign in the shuttle bus window so guests knew it was MY shuttle and didn't get on the wrong one. Little things like that just don't get thought of when your thinking about everything else. She was very good with those kinds of things. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the Greenville Country Club. Not sure if any of the other GCC brides still lurk around here, but they were super helpful to me during my planning process. I would like to return the favor :)
