Marriage License Question!

Just a quick question that no one around me is able to answer: If my ceremony takes place in Lowell, but my reception takes place in Dorchester- where should I file my "intention to marry"?The pastors marrying us are attending all three "parts" of the wedding. And neither of them have gotten back to answer me.

I believe you can file your 'intention to marry' in any town hall.  We filed ours in the town we live in, and we are getting married in Boston.

Ditto pp. If you're getting married in MA, you can get your marriage license in any MA town. I would just get it somewhere convenient for you that has the cheapest price in the area. For example, Boston's marriage license costs $50 but Brookline was $35 I think. HTH!

Lowell is $30....where is your ceremony taking place? We are hoping for Immaculate Conception, but we have 2 years still :)

I work in a town clerks office, so my advice would be to apply in an area that you will remember, because 35 years from now when you are applying for social security or something you'll need to remember where it is on file.  HTH!

@ galaxy - Really? I didn't know that! Thank you!I guess I'll get mine in Lowell then... FI and I frequent Lowell (as my family is there) more often than Boston (we only head to Revere/Chelsea now it seems)! Besides, it's cheaper. And the copies may be cheaper also! And thank you to everyone who replied!!

Oh, and the ceremonies will be in Lowell (Centralville) and the reception will be in Boston (Dorchester Zoo).
