PROVIDENCE BILTMORE- reviews?

Hi everyone!  I looked at the Providence Biltmore for my reception and loved it, however I found some VERY negative reviews about the hotel online.  Does anyone have personal experience who can share?  I would really appreciate it!  Also, any feedback on other venues would be helpful too...Thanks:)

Really?  There were bad reviews online?  I LOVED the Biltmore.  The food was amazing, the service was great, they did a great job with my extremely detailed wedding.  I will say, if I had to do it again, I would have given them a master list of the details I wanted because a few did get mixed up.  For example, I ended up with a head table even though I was extremely clear that I hated head tables.  There were little things that only I noticed.  All of my guests told me how great everything was, how good the food was, how beautiful, etc.  Overall, I loved having my wedding there.  Scott is awesome to work with.

I am also shocked to hear you read bad reviews, were the reviews about the hotel in terms of sleeping there or having a wedding? I can tell u that our room block was a nightmare, but the catering side was fabulous. I did give a master detail list so I would suggest that so all the little things that you put time into get done. But food, service, and help planning could not be any better, we still recieve rave reviews! Good luck with your choice :)

I had my wedding there a month ago and have nothing but great things to say!!  I did give a detailed list and everything right down to the tiniest detail was exactly how I imagined it.  The food was fantastic and everything ran very smoothly.  Scott and all of the staff were attentive all night to me and my guests.  The only negative I had was that we did not get our candle holders or table holders back but I am waiting to hear if they have them still or not.  All my guests are still raving about what a fantastic night they had! :-) HTH if you have any other questions just ask!

I will say, I didnt give the master list of details because I was repeatedly assured that they had it under control.  I did give it to my DOCs.  Bottom line- trust Scott, but remember he has a 1000 brides, he can't remember all of your details if he thinks he will. Give them a list.  And you will love your wedding.P.S. Cat- we are missing a few things too.  Nothing major, but a few.

I found awful reviews of the Westin, also, but decided to have my wedding there anyway. As far as hotel reviews, you will always find people who have something to complain about. Don't let it sway you for your wedding. From what I've heard, the Biltmore is a wonderful reception venue. Just look at all of the brides here who've had great experiences! Best if luck!

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback- I feel alot better!  For those who had issues with the room blocks, can you explain further what happened?  Thanks:)

I had room block issues from day one, I have heard similar concerns from other brides on here. Everytime someone called to make a reservation, even my MIL they got transfered a million times and almost always had to call back at least once. We ended up working directly with the room reservations manager (I don't think that is her exact title) but the person who works in catering who deals with brides and room blocks just could not figure out what was wrong, but honestly no one ever did. I just felt so awful and I literally heard a complaint from every person on our room block about their reservation making process...I am not exagertaing. Then the day of the wedding we were told check in was at 3 but wedding guests were given priority, especially since we had a 4pm ceremony so hopfully they would be able to start getting in at 2. Well we had some people who did not get a room, unitl the middle of the cocktail hour and the fron desk actually had the nevre to tell people to come back after the ceremony! My dad had to find scott to deal with the front desk becuase we had almost all of our out of town guests at 3:30 in the lobby with no room. Many people were given a "temporary" room so they could get ready and then had to move to their actual room later in the evening. A few people even missed our ceremony. And for the prices people paid that was just totoally obnoxious. If you can find my vendor reviews post you will see I gave the Biltmore a A+ but the room block part an F. We also had a block at the westin and marriot, they were cheaper and so much easier to work with...and people got a room on time! Please don't let this scare you awat from the biltmore, the place is truly fabulous and I could not have had a better wedding, I have also heard plenty of girls on here have no issues at all with their room block so hopefully you will not either! I guess maybe just ask a lot of questions to ensure you do not. Good luck, sorry this is so long!

We didn't have room block issues because there were better rates available off of our room block, which really annoyed me.   So no one used the room block.  I will say that a few of our guests had issues with booking a room at one rate, getting a confirmation email reflecting that rate, then being charged more when they checked out.  But our rooms were $99 and the Westin quoted us over $300 for the same type of room.

Very surprised to hear negative reviews about the Biltmore.  I am not getting married there but one of my BM's did and her wedding was gorgeous.  Everything from the set up - food - the whole wedding was beautiful.Plus our room was awesome - her and her hubby got totally spoiled by the staff.  I love that hotel!

I'm so glad to hear that you all had wonderful experiences and that the food was great. Has anyone had any trouble getting in touch with Scott? How long does he typically take to get back to you?  Also, has anyone had any issues or surprises with their contracts?Lastly, I'd be curious to hear any unique ideas or different uses of space / details that other ladies added, if you're willing to share! :)  All tips are welcome.
