Candy buffet containers- lids or no lids?

I keep seeing candy buffets where the containers have lids and some where there are no lids.  Which is better?  Do the lids get in the way or does the candy dry out and get dirty?  I'm having a hard time deciding...

Re: Candy buffet containers- lids or no lids?

  • I didn't have lids.  My candy bar was packed all night, I think they would just get in the way.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Ours had no lids. We did our own set up of the buffet at the venue the night before.  The banquet manager came out and covered everything in plastic wrap, and informed us her staff would take that off before the start of the reception. It worked out well - nothing was stale or dried out in that amount of time!

  • How much did you spend on your candy buffet? I love the idea and would like to know an estimate to fit it in the budget.
