Photo Ketubah Anyone?

Since FI isn't Jewish, I really am trying to stay away from the traditional Jewish themes of most Ketubahs. I know through my browsing that a lot of the sites offer photo Ketubahs where you can have a photo of you on there instead of the traditional symbols. Has anyone gone this route and if so, how did you like it?

This is a great question but I have actually never heard of anyone doing this (or a company that does, sounds pretty cool). you may have luck contacting an artist directly. I think one reason why you haven't gotten responses yet is that I *think* and may be wrong, but that you are not *supposed to* again, may be totally wrong, have depictions of people on Ketubot. I know ours has like a stickfigure/cartoonish and the rabbi said thats more than fine, but not detailed faces.

If you scroll down the post, two folks discuss this very thing.  Title of post is "Your Photo Ketubah" and there is a suggestion for a website that offers this and it would seem to suggest that one of the two gals has tried it (though it's hard to tell). I think you can find lots of lovely, artistic pieces that have no real suggestion of "Jewishness" except for the Hebrew - and you can have an all-English text, so that's not an issue.  There are a lot of places online, or you can come up with an idea and have an artist work with you to create a ketubah that you both will love for years to come.

We designed our ketubah based on a picture of the lake where we got engaged. We did it in Photoshop. Altered the pic to look like a oil painting and then had a text box with Hebrew and English. We had it printed from a place online as a gliclee print which is how they make high quality replicas of art work. It was printed on archival quality paper and looks great. I highly recommend doing this if you want a unique personalized ketubah.
